the cylinder head has a little bit of deposits, the exhaust valve is getting a little too hot - maybe adjustment is too tight-- spark plug not seated, robbing you of power - the cylinder head can be serviced and reused
piston has skirt scuffing on the skirt showing up to the oil control ring land, this is most likely from normal wear in an engine that is not being maintained properly and doesn't get any upper cylinder lube in the fuel - also it shows excessive blowby- examining the cylinder would be a better choice - the piston could be reused if necessary, but only if carefully reconditioning it and the cylinder and then checking clearances.
the oil on the studs is normal when removing the head and cylinder - residual oil runs down and off- just wipe it off crankcase before assembly

Comes with new head, cylinder and piston. I always feel like I am over tightening the sparkplug and I'm scared to strip it Lol. I'll just make sure I tighten it some more next time

personally, i would rather get a cylinder kit ($30 special) with an extra gasket set from John @ valley parts , then recondition that head and reuse. Making a tool to remove & install the valves is easy in the 2t trouble shooting i described a how to on plugs. talked with John yesterday extensively and confirmed the gasket set sold separately is needed- here is a link to some downloadable photos if you want them autosellpro.com/bbkbtw... make sure you check the cam journals for wear and proper fit. had to trim one to reduce friction
