Look what I found on CL today! I had to basically borrow money to get it, but I think it was worth it. It looks awesome for a 2002. It does not run, but it seems to have compression. It only shows 29 miles on the OD, but the owner said it was more like 1200 - 1500. He also said it started leaking gas out of the carb a couple years ago and has been parked ever since. He was adamant about it being sold "as is" I did not even try to beat the price down because he was nice enough to wait all day for me to come get it despite getting multiple calls. It included a GIVI case and the whole thing set me back...$250.00! I am excited to have finally found a CLEAN scoot for a great deal!

Nice! What's the plans for it? Comfortable cruiser or screeching bruiser? Lol! I think if I get it running easily, I will keep it stock. Told the wife I bought it after the fact, she said really? I told her I plan to flip it to try to keep things cool, but we all know this one is a keeper. Great find!Thats a high end quality scoot!! Yes, I have been wondering why I never see the nice stuff around here like niz and 2tdave get in FL, guess I was saving it all up for a real nice one! This thing is cherry!

Nice! Is that a Minarelli with a 16" wheel? I've never seen a big bored stroker in one of those. Just saying.

Nice! Is that a Minarelli with a 16" wheel? I've never seen a big bored stroker in one of those. Just saying. I didnt even get a chance to look at it good, I think the wheels are 16". We have been so busy at work because of this cold snap, I had to make time to go get it. I did some quick research on it when I saw it listed early this morning. Racing planet is my go to for model/brand lookup of scooter parts. Found out it takes mostly mina parts and that was enough for me, I gave the guy a call and made the deal. As for a big motor, we can only hope this thing needs a crank, and cylinder!

Nice find! Be careful with RP as a reference. I've seen and heard parts being listed for the wrong bikes!

I think they're ugly as sh*t but hey it was cheap and probably more practical and confortable (due to big wheels) than every other scoot.

I got it running pretty good finally, it took most of the day. Like the Vino, the plastics gotta come off to do just about anything to the motor, you cant even take the CVT cover off without removing the floorboard!
The PO said the carb was leaking gas all over so I figured I would take the carb off and clean it first. It has a Dellorto PHVA 12 carb. It was clean but had a good bit of oil in it, the jets were MJ66 PJ38. I didn't notice the first time I had the carb apart that the needle clip was in the top notch out of 5. I find it hard to believe that it ever ran like that. I had to spray carb cleaner to keep it running and I could tell it was very lean. I ended up moving the clip down three notches, and it seems pretty happy there. Someone also put a piece of black pipe inside the snorkel inlet, trying to cut down the air I guess, I pulled it out. It also had a BR8HSA plug in it for some reason. The owners manual called for a BR8HS plug, so that's what I put back in. The only things left to fix are the front brakes, and the speedometer. The rest of the scooter is just about in mint condition.
Other than being a challenge to work on, I like this scooter quite a bit. It handles and rides well with the bigger wheels, and it holds 2.11 gallons of gas. Top speed of 40 MPH/GPS in complete stock trim. I have some plans for this scooter eventually, but it will likely remain stock for the time being.

Nice scoot. I was planning to flip a Benelli M50- similar style scoot- but never got to that one. Riding a Malaguti like that gives u the right to stop and ask for Grey Poupon lol.

Kind of even makes you feel like asking for some Grey Poupon when you are riding it! This thing has a giant cat in the exhaust. It glows bright cherry red, and you can see it if you look into the stinger.

Also, if anyone knows a place that sells Malaguti parts in the US I would appreciate it. I need part # 17814200 it is the speedometer drive assembly that attaches to the front wheel.
