I've had a crazy busy day but I did manage to snag my next victim this afternoon: A 2010 Peace Sports Biella 49cc 4T for $300. (The title says 'Bash') I actually had my sights set on a nice Daelim Cordi (DIO Clone??) for $275 ( tampa.craigslist.org/hdo/mcy/4868580212.html ) but the guy was acting real flaky. I called Sat. morning and he said Ok he'd be home all day then when I was on my way he said he left for the day and tomorrow would be better. So I called again this morning and he says not now call him back at 3pm to see if he "might" be home later today and maybe do it Monday now... Nope too much flake going on there so I hit the phones and became a motivated buyer since pickings are real slim right now. Out of maybe 10 calls, texts, and/or emails I only got a few responses and decided to take my own advice and go for this purty looking Lil' Red Retro- even if it is a Chickadee China 4t. I knock the 4t's but they have been two of my easiest flips. I have high hopes that this is the easiest flip of all! The seller was really cool and even had a surprise for me when I showed up- he had the scoot running! I wasn't expecting that little bonus as the CL ad said it needed a fuel line and the fuel tank cleaned. He also had another little bonus for me: A scooter cover and a helmet! Yeehaw! I tried the helmet on and it does fit me but it's quite tight. Got me feeling pretty good about this purchase. Gotta love bonuses! The scoot has a good battery- finally!- and great tires and only 1,455 miles on the odometer. I took it for a little spin and it is a dooooggggg. I'll try to tune it a bit to see if I can "pep it up". Looking to spend $0 preparing this one and hopefully only a day or two until it's ready for resale. I'm thinking a goal of a $550 or so selling price. As you can see from the original receipt, he only paid $700 for it brand new!

Got the lil red retro opened up and checking her out. Gonna try and see if I can make her less of a dog. I replaced the fuel lines with some heavy duty good old Made in the USA stuff from Autozone. Checking the valves and they are: Exhaust: .002 Intake: .0015 I set them both to .003 Took it for a spin and I think it's faster... lol. It hits 38mph on the speedo before the end of my neighborhood so that's good enough for me. I'll advertise it as "Does 40mph!" I do have a blue "racing" CDI here from the Eton Beamer experiment. Maybe I'll try it out and see what it does. If it makes for hard starting I'll either just leave it stock or maybe stock+ advance the timing a little. There's not a lot of room for profit on this scoot so I'm looking to flip it with as little time spent as possible. This scoot came with the User Manual, Installation instruction (Assembly), and Parts Catalog. Nowhere does it specify valve clearance... This scoot looks practically brand new but it just wouldn't feel right if I didn't paint something. The stickers on the lower left panel are a bit scuffed up. I wanted to just peel them off but they're under the clearcoat. Voila!

If it does 38 at least I'd prob leave it be unless the mods are mostly for your enjoyment. Better chance of the next owner being able to run it on lower octane if they choose if the timing isn't advanced and it's not gonna be a lot faster for the time you invest.
You are prob just as well off that the paperwork with the scoot had no valve lash settings. Chinese owners manuals aren't the best. I stick with 0.002-0.003" most of the time.

I agree 100% Brent. I just soldered the plug back on the blue 4t CDI and for some reason it wouldn't even start. Hmm- anyway I'm not messing with it anymore. She starts and runs perfect right now so this is how I'll keep it. Shoot- I'm just going to do an oil change real quick and buff her out with my magic pad and it's ready to take glamor pics and go up for sale! I like this flip lol.

Here's a perfect example of how I use the headlight restore compound and buffing pad for these scoots: You can see how the 'chrome' looks all scratched up: Here's a before and after shot of two panels sitting next to each other. The one on the right has been buffed. I just love this stuff!

Quickest Flip Ever. Hope I sell it fast too. I was racing to get her all cleaned up and back together before the sun went down so I could get some pics and get the CL ad up. I made it! Need to do the oil change still and wow this thing is terrible on hills. Just a small hill and it took forever to up over 25mph. I might open the CVT cover and see if I can't tune it a little better. Maybe some lighter roller weights... Here is the CL ad: tampa.craigslist.org/psc/mcy/4874813761.htmland some pics! I also made a youtube video for it. Don't laugh! I'm trying to make it sound good for a China scoot lol.

If you want to spruce it up a little bit more for no money spray the kick stand, center stand and the belt cover with gloss black. It really makes a difference in the overall presentation. You don't have to get crazy and remove the stands. That rear splash guard looks amiss. I think there is supposed to be two screws that hold it higher up away from the wheel under the tail light that are missing. ? Or maybe that scooter is different than all the others I have worked on. This is how I am used to seeing the mud guard on those:

I just sold a silver one of those last week. Bought for $200 and sold for $300. A little more work than you did because the previous owner broke the inside threads on the oil filter and they turned into confetti inside the crank. I like the size of them.
I'm trying to flip as much as possible too, but everyone wants to sell their barely running scoots for $500+
