Well looky what we have here! I have a matching set now! haha. I found this AIR50 when I hopped on CL and when I called the lady said "Wow that was fast. We just put the ad up 10 minutes ago!". It sounded like a business setting of some sort and when I got to the address I realized this is a Pawn Shop! They said they had the scoot started and were riding it around but I just kicked it over 3-4 times and when it didn't start I tried to negotiate the price down. They were very firm on the price and the best they could do was "$350 out the door". The other issue I had to iron out before laying my $$ down was the title. Were they going to make me sign the title into my name before I left with it??? I did some fancy finagling and after they called somebody on the phone they agreed to sell it to me with blank title and charged me $327.10 + tax= $350. Cosmetic-wise it's probably in as good or better shape than mine, with just a couple small issues. The main issue I see is the seat but it seems the stiches are coming apart at the seams (just like mine) so hopefully I do a little redneck sewing and have it looking like brand new again! It needs a new battery so I stopped at Walmart on the way home and bought the same $25 scooter battery I always buy. I have $375 into it already... I like the nice big speedo that's in MPH (not kph) - it goes to 75mph! and I also like the stock led turn signals and tail/brake light. As usual, I'm hoping to get it running good and looking good fairly quickly. With any luck I'll have it done and sold for a $200- $250 profit within a few days...

Is there a dried up frog in the head light?I think it brings good luck!! The funny thing is one of my main main pet peaves with scooters is yellowed out headlights. For some reason the headlights on my scooter are turning yellow- not sure why since I always keep it in my garage... This maroon AIR50 has perfectly clear brand new looking headlight assy. so I figured I'd swap them out- but now that you mention my dried up alien friend in the headlight- almost forgot about him!- I'm not so sure I want to swap now. I don't want to lose my good luck charm!

Maybe you can sell the alien edition to some dude in a tin foil hat though and cash in?

Well that was easy! I put the acid in the battery... Drained what little fuel that was in the tank and replaced the cheap Chinese fuel line. Here in the pic you can see a perfect example of why these Chinese fuel lines should be replaced asap- they get dry and brittle and crack and break very quickly... I put the new battery and fuel and it started right up! The idle was set quite high so the dang thing nearly took off out my hands! For some odd reason the center stand is missing... It runs good! The takeoff seems a bit slower than what mine was bone-stock but I hit 45 mph on the speedo (I'll GPS it eventually). Now I just need to address a couple cosmetic issues- oh yes and the instrument panel is not lighting up- and it looks like I have another quick flip on my hands!

Ok, I've been slacking on my flip update a little, but happy to say this one is SOLD! I sold it for $650 within a few hours of putting it up on Craigslist. I really think the scooter sales are on fire right now because of the tax return $$ flying around. Before I get into the sale of this scoot and the purchase and trade of flip scoot #15, let me catch up on how I finished this one off... I went to Advanced Auto and got some maroon auto paint to touch up the sun-faded handlebar plastic. The paint I picked out ended up being a Honda color and it matched perfectly! This scoot had 3 burned out bulbs- one headlight and two small button type bulbs- one is the third small bulb in the headlight housing and the other was to one half of the instrument cluster.... The instrument cluster is all lit up like it's supposed to be now! Headlights all functional... Now, of course I had to take advantage and do a little cherry picking here; I swapped my yellowing headlight housing for this pristine one! I'm very happy since I just could not stand the yellow looking headlight housing on my scooter and had looked into replacing it a while back and realized it would be quite hard to find! Of course I didn't forget my good luck little alien buddy and he's safe and sound in my (our) new headlight housing If you're wondering what "Alien" I'm talking about, check out my scoot build thread here: 49ccscoot.proboards.com/thread/9791/scooter-diary-roketa-air-rhon?page=4 One of the last things I needed to take care of before putting this scoot up for sale was the ripped seat cover. I had originally planned to try to sew the rips since they were all close to the seams, but I opted to go the same route I went with the Derbi Atlantis..... Wow, I gotta tell ya- I thought I got a good deal last time with this black vinyl material from Walmart at $5 for a sq. yard, but this time I got a really smokin' deal! I paid $1.67 total! I don't know if the girl messed up or what but somehow I only got charged $1.67 for this piece of fabric. The girl said she was "hooking me up with a little extra" with a wink and boy did she.... I easily have enough material here to do 3 seats!! I guess that comes to about 57 cents per seat... She sure did hook me up- thanks Walmart fabric girl! I did some stretching and stapling and more stretching and more stapling and voila! Seat looks brand new! So now the scoot is ready to sell! I put the scoot up for sale for $650 in one of my patented Craigslist ads and got a call within an hour. The young man lived in St. Petersburg which is about an hour drive from me and practically begged me to deliver it to him. What?? You crazzy! lol. He promised if the scoot was the one in the pics and it started right up and ran good (which it did of course!) that he'd pay me the full asking price. He wanted this scooter really bad but had no way to come get it. We ended the conversation and after a couple hours to let the thought stew in my brain I started concocting a plan.... If I could secure a scoot to buy to load into the van on my way back from St. Pete then this whole delivery risk wasn't quite so risky anymore. I called him up and confirmed that he was serious and he did have the cash. The next call I made is to a number I've had stored in my phone for over a month now under "Blue Vento $300". I got in contact with the seller of the blue Vento Triton 2t I have been trying to buy for quite some time now and everything just fell into place! Maybe it was meant to be I guess- I left the house with the red Roketa AIR and returned home with the blue Vento Triton (that I got for a pretty good deal ) Another house of cards plans that somehow did not topple!

Excellent work as always. Even with a little cherry picking that turned out to be a really nice scoot.

Blast from the past, did I miss something? Great job as always. Just someone that showed up with an AIR 50 so I decided to look up this old thread. I then realized that I never said 'Thank You' to some compliments.... so 2 years later I finally did haha. Better necro than never I guess lol.
