Sometimes when starting up my scoot will rev pretty high then dies. Think it might be a vacuum leak?

What about using a propane torch not lit of course, hold around carb area and listen for rpms going up. I heard this somewhere on this site.

My kymco does something similar(high revs, rarely dies but tried), if I don't ride for a few days. If I ride every day or two it starts normaly. I found that if I choke the air box for a second when it starts to high rev, it drops back to a normal idle an doesn't die. Seems like somehow(I never turn the petcock off) the float bowl is almost dry during start up then gets sucked dry without being filled.
