A lot of new cables I see have no lubrication at all. I always put some grease at least at the last few inches.
Could also be binding in the grip.
Take it back apart and lubricate there and make sure it fits properly. Compare the ends to the old cable if it's still around.

Well, you said you changed the cable and ever since........ You didn't say you had the problem before you changed the cable. With your revised description, I would take a guess your needle is bent and not straight or is installed incorrectly. Take the needle out and see if the slide moves smoothly without the needle.

Possibly you bent the jet needle, and it is hitting the needle jet? It is easy to do.

So is not the needle it seems. So just take the needle out and move the slide up and down with your finger so you can see what's sticking. You see any marks where it's rubbing? Disconnect the throttle cable to make sure there's no interference from it. I still ain't totally convinced it's not the cable since it started after you replaced the cable.

Ok, yeah yeah....that Zuma carb is like my 2 stroke Yamaha carburetors. I was forgetting for a minute. You didnt force the slide that first time did you? Take the cable back off and try it without the cable to isolate whether it's the cable or the slide. I still keep thinking the cable is sticking somewhere. I can't understand why you would have had trouble getting the slide back in after you installed the cable The slide was the same right?
