My scooter rattles at idle really loud. As the rpm's increase the rattle disappears. It's so loud at idle I don't wanna drive it.
1. Pulled the cylinder checked the piston for play checked for play in the crank 2. Pulled of every part of the CVT and inspected them 3. Pulled off and inspected the flywheel and stator
It still rattle's But runs fine down the road. So I'm stumped. Any suggestions would be great thanks.

Check that all bolts and nuts are tight one or two might be loose.

I had a head gasket that wasn't centered that was similar that. You could feel it by turning engine by hand. Side play on rod rubbing on crank wheel...

Rollers rattling in the variator? If that's the case it should quiet down when throttle is applied enough that the variator starts closing.

I have six starter wheels and needle bearings. Turns out the I.d. Of one starter wheel is slightly larger than all the others(the one I happened to pick). Seriously we're talking maybe 1mm here. So I pulled out all the needle bearings and found one that was also slightly bigger than the rest. Put everything back together and no rattle. I figure as the amount of grease between the needle bearing and the clutch decreased over time the more play between them developed.
