Dunno why it is doing it, just started doing it. My 139qmb is knocking at low idle. Here is a sound file, is this a clutch noise or engine knocking? The oil in it is 15w40, I also changed it twice to clean the motor out. I believe it takes 3/4 of a quart of oil. The oil reads fine on the dip stick, oil is not low nor to high. It is a .wav file that I recorded with my phone of the knocking, if any of you guys can take a listen. www.dropbox.com/s/0jxobgd7ifqsujq/sunny.wav?dl=0It almost sounds like a clanking sound.

I can't download the file so I can't hear it but if it's a clunk then it's a worn main crank bearing most likely since it does it at idle. My first scooter developed an idle clunk at around 12,000 Turned out to be the main bearing on the variator side. The way I figured it out was I removed the variator, grabbed the crank shaft with my hand and moved it up/down/side/side and it had a lot of sloppy side play. If it's a clanging metallic sound then it's probably the variator. Many scooters variators will rattle a little at idle especially with an older belt. It could be that one or more of the variator guides have broken so you have a metal on metal situation in there. Ned to take the variator off and check it out. This link shows pics of what I'm talking about: 49ccscoot.proboards.com/thread/6604/cvt-basics-new-scooter-owners

Sound file downloaded for me, sounds like a valve may be out of adjustment. It's just ticking at idle.

I managed to listen to the file and it sounds just like my scooter did. Crank clunk.

uhoh, that's not good to read.
I have no knowledge of taking any motor apart besides little stuff, but the main internals of a motor, I have no idea.
I suppose I will ride it out.
Is this a very serious issue?

Once I identified the noise I managed to ride another 1500+ Chinometers before I decided that I had pressed my luck far enough and I bought a piece of crap scooter with a good engine for $100 and swapped engines.
What city you in?

He told me where he lives and lets just say he's not too terribly far from a major lake front city so if he keeps his eyes peeled on craigslist every day he should be able to find a deal on a scooter someone let sit for a long time with a good engine.
If you go to craigslist>motorcycles for sale>by owner only and then type "Scooter" in the search box and press enter it whittles it down to just what you are looking for. Then click on the $$$ symbol link to sort from lowest to highest price. Bookmark that and you can go straight to it in one click.
