2 stroke 2004 baccio vx50. Ive been having issues with my starter lately so i pulled the cvt cover and the variator fins had lots of chips missing. I'd say a good 30 peices of metal where all through the case as well as what appears to be a peice of a broken spring... no idea where the rest is. I cant get the variator case off until i get an impact wrench but i know a peice is stuck in the variator because i heard something rattling around when i took the belt off. Now its jammed in the variator. Why is it breaking off peices like this? Second question.. im having a studder that sounds like a 2 step or launch controll in a car at about 2-3 seconds after WOT from idle. Is this because its lean? Final question.. why would my engine rev higher without the belt on? Im maxing at 34mph now, i dont have a tach but at WOT downhill im maxing at 34 mph and guestimating 6-8k rpm? Its like someone is holding the scoot back once it hits that speed. Now that the metal is stuck in the variator it seems to be revving much higher but the belt isnt on so there is 0 strain on the motor. Is it a belt issue?

The broken spring was floating around in there and got wedged between the variator fins and the belt cover most likely and that caused the fins to shear off. The spring is most likely from the clutch. The stutter could be several things but it's most likely the clutch again. The top speed thing could be a restricted variator.

Man, have I REALLY just missed something here? What's wrong with me this morning? Why is it breaking off peices like this? Fox explained it well. Second question.. im having a studder that sounds like a 2 step or launch controll in a car at about 2-3 seconds after WOT from idle. Is this because its lean? Not sure. Could also be rich and loading up at idle. Try moving the needle clip one position either way to determine.Final question.. why would my engine rev higher without the belt on? Im maxing at 34mph now, i dont have a tach but at WOT downhill im maxing at 34 mph and guestimating 6-8k rpm? Its like someone is holding the scoot back once it hits that speed. I'm confused....how are you still riding the scooter without a drive belt? Now that the metal is stuck in the variator it seems to be revving much higher but the belt isnt on so there is 0 strain on the motor. Is it a belt issue? You engine will naturally rev higher if there is no belt because there is less drag on the engine.

Sorry i had some troubles responding the first its not driving right now with the belt off. That was my speed before i started having issues with the starter. Now that the piece is stuck in the variator if i have the belt on and start it it wont idle so im guessing im gonna need a new variator at the least. Im hoping to get an electric impact wrench tomorrow. I noticed on the clutch it says jog 90, do i need to find a clutch for a jog 90 or any kind made for my engine 1pe40qmb?

Dude. Okay, if you at any point removed the belt from your vari/cvt, a roller may have also dislodged from its correct location, and got stuck, causing your vari to lock. As for the clutch...NO. You can use a 50cc clutch, as far as I know they are both the same thing You'll have to remove the variator to reset it into its right spot.
