I just replaced the carb on my 49cc scooter i need to adjust it and where I normally adjust carburetor there Is a bronze cap over this one that will not come off. The scooter turns over but Idles extremely high and then dies When I give it throttle.

It sounds like your new carb has a brass plug over the a/f mixture screw, so you'll have to carefully drill it out . YouTube has a ton of videos on how to do this. Here's one I found: www.youtube.com/watch?v=MLpkf2LINzoThis may not solve your problem though. You may need to adjust the idle screw, needle clip level, and/or adjust your jet sizes. No carb is the same. A previously perfectly running scooter now with a newly installed carb, may not run at all... or maybe that's just my personal hellish experiences over the last few years. In the future, for your next carb, look at the pictures carefully and just buy one without the a/f mixture screw brass plug. Most postings on the web for new carbs show good pictures from all angles, which highlight if the carb is adjustable by having a/f mixture screw fully exposed. Good luck.
