I just bought a TaoTao Zummer P139QMB GY6 (brand new) scooter- it is literally one month and two days new. I have less than a 1000 Kilometers on it. in the last week- I noticed a leak right off the crank case. it is NOT the encasement for the gears it is literally the crank case. It leaks about 1 to 2 drops every 2-3 hours. It is righ side of crank case- directly over the drain plug (see the 2nd pic which shows gear oil drain plug)
3rd pic I wiped it off and waiting for buildup of oil to occur again
Please see pics....
Has anyone had this happen? I could see the CVT leaking gear oil, but I don't know about the crank case...
The leak form almost underneath

Bought it in a shop? If so i would go see them about it. It should be covered by the warranty.

I have seen overfilling with oil cause this.
Too much oil forces the gasket out of place.
Not sure this is your dilemma, but that's what I have seen (and repaired).

Yes I bought it in a shop... the engine and tranny are covered by a 6 month warranty was going to take it to them this weekend, but want an idea before going in so they wont tell me that "This particular thing isn't covered by warranty"... don't want to get taken

I had the oil changed after about 2 weeks of driving it around... it is possible that they overfilled and I just haven't noticed until this week... which would be 2 &half weeks ago (I only noticed leak a week ago)

humanshield, how did you repair it? did you just let out some engine oil? BTW I just check the engine oil and it is only halfway up the grated lines on the dipstick

The oil change guide link is below. It shows where full is on the dipstick. 49ccscoot.proboards.com/thread/349/oil-changeThe leak seems to be coming from the belt cover so you need to take that cover off and then you'll be able to see if it's coming from the crank seal (front) or the transmission seal (rear) Either way, it's not a horrible leak so as long as you keep the oil level topped up you can ride it. Changing a seal takes about a minute or two once you get to it. The bad news is that to get to it requires an impact wrench with a 17mm socket and a 14mm socket. The seals are cheap on ebay. You just need one seal but they come in sets of four cause the engine has four total. www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.XGY6+50cc+oil+seal+set.TRS0&_nkw=GY6+50cc+oil+seal+set&_sacat=0At 1:45 the guy hits the case with a "soft" hammer to break the gasket seal. 4:46 of this video shows the two oil seals behind the pulleys. One of yours is leaking.

Oil leaking out of the CVT cover is most likely an engine oil seal or possibly a gear oil seal. You can tell if it's engine oil or gear oil by smell... gear oil has a bitter smell. I've had regular troubles with engine oil seals, as have others with these TaoTaos. I'd take it to the shop and let them deal with it under warranty. I don't see why a seal shouldn't be covered. As said, if you do want to check it you'll need to get the cover off and maybe pulleys for a look around. I've been able to clearly see trails where the oil or gear oil came from with mine. A look at seal replacement : www.youtube.com/watch?v=j-ZpL4cCW2c

So I brought it home and it dropped about 2-3 drops of oil on a catch sheet for about 4 to 5 hours. I wiped the crankcase seem really good/ cleaned off any excess oil and it didn't leak anymore that night (from 11 pm- 8:30 am... in fact there wasn't any oil that seeped thru the seam.... it was still clean as when I wiped it off When I drove it this morning it started a little bit again.
Does this mean it's engine oil?

No matter how good you wipe it clean, there will still be oil that can leak once its warmed up even if you fix the leak. You'd have to degrease the motor with something like PURPLE POWER.
Did you check the oil level? You can create oil leaks if you overfill it.
Your best best (since you have warranty coverage) is to get it back to the place you bought it from. Let them deal with it. Just be sure they make some kind of hokey temporary JB weld fix or something so it'll "get by" until the warranty expires.

Most likely it's engine oil and it's only going to push more oil past the seal when it's running. The same sort of thing could be the case with the gear oil though. As said, check your engine oil level. Even if you only see a few drops while parked, it could be steadily dripping as you ride.

Just go get a cheap metric socket set and a rubber hammer and use the 8mm socket to remove the belt cover. Then wipe it clean as you can in there with a rag and then put the cover back on with only two or three of the bolts. Then, take it for a little ride around the block a few times or whatever. Then take it home and immediately remove the cover and look to see if you see it running down from the front or the back seal. Hell, you might be able to tell without taking it for a ride.
Real simple stuff I'm talking about here. Then you can go to the dealer armed with knowledge and state: "I would like you to replace the ____ seal on the engine. It's leaking"
The ____ will be either be filled in with "the oil seal behind the variator" (front) or "the oil seal behind the clutch" (rear)
