Yet another problem with my scoot. I was riding home today on a straightaway at full throttle, when all of a sudden I lost power, by the engine didnt die. I thought the belt was partially shredded because I experienced a similar loss of power last Time my belt actually did shred. This time however, I could still move, albeit very slow, and unlike when the belt broke, if I opened the throttle, the rpm's would not go very high. I make I home and take the CVT cover off, and while the belt is a little cracked on the edges, it seems to have a normal wear pattern.
Note: I have another thread about my ki ckstarter issues. While I was fixing the kickstarter, the little metal piece that snaps onto the kickstart gear(the one that comes into contact with the wheel that gets spun during starting, in turn spinning the crankshaft) was wedged between the clutch and cvt cover, so I believe something in the clutch Is damaged.

Now that the bike has cooled down, I was able to figure out that I can't compress the spring in the clutch, so obviously something I preventing I from happening. Looks like i need to rent an impact wrench.

I'm starting a new job tomorrow, and when I'm not so financially f'ed, I'm going to buy one of my own, but for this issue, I'm goong to have to rent.
The only place I can rent an impact tool from in the area only rents impact drivers, which usually only have about 130 foot/lbs of torque. Will that be enough to get the nut off?

I got a cordless electric impact driver that has gotten everything done for me so I imagine you'd be fine.

That should be fine for taking off and replacing the nut.

Harbor freight this weekend has their electric impact gun on sale for less than $40. I have it and it works awesome. I use it on everything. I think it has around 230 ft/lbs..
I know you said you were just going to rent one, but that's pretty cheap and they work great.

Seeing how my scooter is my only mode of transportation right now, and will be do at least another few months, I just took it to the shop. I dont understand how nothing was wrong with the clutch because th spring definitely wasnt moving, but apparently the variator sliders were all screwed up with flatspots all over them. It now has a higher top end speed than I ever has which means it was screwed up from the day I bought it from the previous owner. It seems like i really got sold a lemon, but it's all well and good now. I really want to use this scooter as a way to teach myself about engines and such, but for certain things it seems I'm Bette off leaving I to a pro until I get a new scooter or motorcycle so I'm not screwed If I mess up a repair job.
