I finished my BumbleBee scooter project, and my original seat had a rip in it, but otherwise was fine as far as the seat pan and foam goes. I just ended up buying a new seat from Scrappy dog, but started thinking it can't be too hard to customize my old seat and re-upholster it.
I've been thinking about getting some yellow and black upholstery vinyl and having a go at it on the old seat, but there are a few changes I want to make.
First, I'd want to shave the foam a bit to make the seating area a bit larger. I don't have a huge butt, but the two seater seat my scooter has on it makes me sit a bit forward more than I want to. Also I want to do it in two-tone yellow and black to match my scooter. Maybe even try some french pleating and colored thread.
I've reupholstered before, but more or less putting new covers on, not making them myself. Anyone ever done this? If you have, please post a pic!

a little bit of sewing skill here ive only sewn up a separated seam in a seat some appropriate sized nylon thread from joann fabrics it works better when warm not hot if your going for a double color pattern a double or tripple fold for strength to sew them together if you put a single piece of fabric under the multi piece vinyl it wont pull apart as readily
foam is available many places but a top layer of soft pillowtop fabric makes a more conformed seat imprint better than just foam
