So I just got my rocker arms in the mail. I noticed these flat head screw looking things on the side. Am I supposed to tighten them?

Also I notice now that this that my finger is pointing at is restricting the rocker arms from going on. I'm sure I could tap it with a hammer and get it on but I don't want to damage anything

Well I noticed it slides right on upside down. Is that how it is supposed to go?

The last pic is how it goes. Some spots are machined for those locator dowels and some aren't. You don't need to tightens the parts with a screw type head. You've prob already noticed by now since they've gone on, but if they are turned the wrong way they may partially cover stud holes and the studs won't fit through.

Apparently I am tightening the lock nut too tight. I just stripped out the bolt again.

Please help. I am down to my last 2 screws and I can't strip them. I thought it said tighten them as tight as u can without breaking the rocker arms

This one isn't stripped but notice how the nut is sitting on the screw kinda cockeyed. Why do I have to go thru this stuff lol

I have come to the conclusion that the lock nuts that scooters to go sent me are not threaded straight. If that makes sense. They aren't stripped but when u go to tighten them it brings it flush with the rocker arms. And since they are not threaded straight it strips it when u tighten it. What should I do. Would the local hardware store have the same size nut I can use?. Or could I get the screw to right gap and tack weld it there so it will stay where it needs to be

Do not weld anything. Then you're in trouble if it ever needs to be changed from wear etc... The nuts need to be tight, but you should not be putting tons of torque on them. I didn't think the nut looked that crooked, but I guess my perception was off because I rotated the pic and now I see it. That doesn't look right. Is that a fresh nut, hasn't been installed or tightened?

Yes that is a fresh nut. Never been tightened. That's what scooters to go sent me. So I went to the scooter shop up the road and bought a new pair of screws for 3 bucks. I got them tightened down but it seems my valves are pretty loud still

When your valves sound "loud" it has nothing to do with how tight you tighten that nut- it has to do with how much clearance you leave between them and the valves. I always set mine to .003 intake and .004 exhaust. They will always "tap" a little bit while running and that is normal...

When I see this stuff it amazes me they even work. Lol sorry bout your headache. I'd try to find a quality nut. Unlike my oil seal problem you seem to Have a chance at resolution. Guess that old saying holds true you get what you pay for
