We all make mistakes but not everyone survives to get another chance. I admire your guts for making this post.
Best of luck to you.

What state do you live in? Can't be ohio or michigan. I don't think they would have given you a temp permit. I am not even sure they would have let you go home without having someone bail you out.
I am confused. You got a dui on your scooter? But you let your friend take it somewhere before the cops got there? How did you get a dui if you were not pulled over while driving it?
And in michigan, and I am pretty sure ohio is the same way, if not worse the fine is like 10 grand. We have billboards all over of a guy blowing in the tester and the caption says "you just blew 10 grand". And that is only to start, to get your license back you have to go to AA and take some other classes, which you have to pay for too. I had a buddy a while back that got busted and when all was said and done it cost him well over 15,000.
I wish you the best of luck.

A stupid thing to do. your a brave man posting this. At least nobody was hurt. My wife lost her Dad through a Drunk driver pulling out onto his motorcycle. The guy went out the next day and brought another car! Never said sorry, and showed no remorse at the court hearing. What an asshole

Yeah it is a stupid thing. I got 2 DUI's in the past three years so I outta know. The last one cost me around $5000 I completely stopped drinking shortly after that when I got charged with aggravated trespassing for threatening my landlord drunk.
I had to drive with a breathalyzer in my van for a year @$75/month and do 18 months of Alcohol/drug education classes and I still have to have high risk insurance for another year and a half. I got a lawyer but it didn't change anything. The lawyer showed up in court for me a few times is all. It didn't get me any sway with the D.A. I still got the standard punishment for a 2nd DUI.
I'm 51 next month. I know I'm not you so I can't tell you anything but maybe you need to take a look in the mirror and ask it if you think it has a drinking problem and answer it honestly. I used to live on the street and in cars off and on and I even lived in a shed for a year. I had a terrible drug and alcohol problem. I woke up in jail after that trespassing charge and did the mirror thing and decided I was an alcoholic and I needed help. That was Aug. 5th 2013. I just took a cake last Sunday for 2 years of sobriety. If I can do it anyone can. I made a lot of new friends too. I am a handyman/mechanic/carpenter and lots of work came my way via A.A.

I'm glad you made it without gettting or harming anyone. You can drink and drive all you want, but please dont do both at the same time.

Believe me I've learned my lesson.I just got to close to the cerve and my back tire hit it as I was turning.and more or less just fell off.and hit my chest on the cerve felt like getting hit with a baseball bat.I don't drink all the time maybe once every 2 months.but now that's down to none.thanks guys for letting talk about this.thank you.

DUMBASS!! You know I had to say that. Thanks for posting.
Have you two been to an AA meeting yet? You MUST follow the program if you do. You must help yourself, the people there can only help guide you. Just blowing it off like it is court ordered is a waste of time. I am still working at it, falling, and picking myself up, failing and falling again, without faith, but others have succeeded. I trip over steps and fall down. I am not much of a human being, I am a miserable asshole, blind and wandering. AA members will recognize me.

It doesn't matter how often you drink. If you have a problem you'll know it if you take an honest look. I'm no stranger to drinking or run ins with the law. They always went hand in hand. Be careful. I thank god I didn't kill anyone! I've been sober now for a little bit and haven't felt better since I started drinking at 15. I'm 44 now. AA isn't for everyone but it's a start and sometimes the only thing if you question rather you have a problem. Btw my attorney would beat that charge.

Pretty ironic story for me. I had a clean DL and a nice car. Never got pulled over for anything. I got my first and only DUI on a scooter. Then I was forced to ride scooters. lol.

I can't believe they arrested him for DUI if they didn't witness it. The scooter was no where to be found so what evidence do they have other than a confession which you can retract at any time.

They have no proof. A good lawyer would eliminate the charge. The lawyer would cost less. In both time and money.

Exactly. If they claim the man was intoxicated, he might have been so out of it he "thought" he was riding a scooter. I do not believe that a confession from an impaired individual is admissible in court if challenged. On the one hand, they claim he was drunk, on the other hand, they will claim he was not impaired so his confession should be used. A good defense attorney would not let that one fly in my non-legal opinion.
Still, as he admitted, it was a stupid thing to do and there should be a price to pay for that...paying for the attorney and going through all of the crap involved hopefully will be enough.
