So, i was riding home this morning and the wind was blowing so hard that it slowed me to a slow crawl. Almost to a complete stop. Damn, i gotta get some more power on my scoot!

This is why I mostly ride 2Ts when it's windy. I did have fun getting the TaoTao up to 46MPH with a tailwind and down a very minor hill, but the 2T will do that against the same wind and up a small hill.

I run into that here also. I started a topic asking about those windshields from Scrappy's to see if anyone tried them and if they helped when going into the wind at all. Brent said he has tried one and he didn't think it helped much if at all. (If I recall correctly) Maybe we need to fabricate a streamliner body for our scoots like they use at Bonneville on motorcycles? (Like in the World's Fastest Indian) Ha ha, that would be funny. Bill

With the wind at an angle, I really didn't like the windshield. Then it's just more surface area for the wind to push the scoot around.

Remember riding home from work on my 50cc Sym Symply, going along at 30 (speed limit), turned left straight into the wind and 10mph straight off the speed!!! Couldn't believe it. I had only been scootering for about 2 months at the time. Quite funny really. Still a damn site easier than riding the old pushbike though! Cycled for years from a boy until 52 years old, and the wind was always a pain, along with big hills.

I honestly have more problems with wind then I do hills on my scooter. If its windy I have trouble doing 35 if that and my revs won't come up. It's like God's little speed limiter lol.
This is normally the limiting factor on many vehicles. Even without a speed or rev limiter they are limited by wind resistance. And as Brent can probably tell you from racing cars, or anyone that has raced bikes it takes a considerable amount of horsepower to go beyond that limit.

The drag from air resistance increases as the square, and not linear, with velocity. So, your drag from air at 40 mph is not 2 times that of 20 mph, but 4 times, and so on. That is why I suggested our streamliner approach, ha ha. Bill

Lets see... If we put a fan blade out in front of the scoot on a shaft running through the scoot to a propeller out back could we capture that wind to make our scoots go twice as fast??? Maybe we could use a pivoting windshield to tack into the wind??? Maybe a big air-scoop could be used to supercharge our engines to produce more power??? hahahaha

It's so strange that you never hear these complaints from the 2 stroke guys. Actually, I have to admit that a stock Zuma is pathetic.
