There is a plate under the seat from the right side,also from the right side over the transmition oil plug.

My 87 Derbi has 5 digits. I had one hell of a time getting a Maryland title when they changed the laws in 2012.

I'm 99% sure they were on foil stickers on or around the head tube area( where forks pass thru) at least on the ones I've had in the past. If it's been painted it may be gone. You can find a repair manual for trouble shooting for an A3 or A35 that should work.

The Derbi had a vin plate pop riveted to the front fairing just below the speedo.

Update this bike is so old that was the vin number the short sequence of number from what police stated in there report.
