When I take off from a start there's not much power, taking off on a hill it barely moves if at all. I can give it full throttle with my feet on the ground and hold it from moving,I did put a new belt on and it made no difference .the clutch looks good and the variator rollers are a little worn, some have flat spots. Could they be the problem?

Have you done a compression test lately?
The other thing i would look at are the clutch shoes, they could be all glazed up and slip like banana peels.

Does the engine rev up high when you are holding it back with your feet?
If yes, your clutch is slipping, you installed the weights wrong, or both.

I sanded the clutch pads. The scooter runs really good and doesn't smoke, but I didn't do a compression test. It seems like it should have more power at the rear wheel the way it sounds when giving it gas

The weights are the stock ones that were in it

It doesn't rev up as high as it does when on the stand. But it does rev up some and you can feel a little push but not enough to even go up a hill

Did you do anything to the air filter like remove it or change it to an aftermarket one?
Have you drained the carburetor gas into a clear jar to see if there is any water in the gas?
Have you cleaned the carb lately?
Valves adjusted?
Spark plug tight and not cracked?
Vacuum hoses inspected for cracks or one that came un-done?
Intake boot inspected for cracks?
Did a bird or small animal set up shop in your air filter box? Sound funny but I've seen that before.

Stock air cleaner good carb cleaned and reassembled Tank was drained and filled with new gas Valves adjusted Spark plug is new I didn't see anything wrong with the boot when assembling it,but I will take a closer look
I'm wondering if I should just get another carb, I bought this scooter used with many problems to fix

New carbs work miracles sometimes.
So you checked the diaphragm for cracks? I have seen once where the clip came off the needle so the needle didn't raise up with the diaphragm slide.

I know the needle and valve were good when I put it back together, but I'll recheck it just to make sure, thanks

Checked the diaphragm , it's good Had a small fuel leak at the accelerator pump, took that apart .seal is good put it back together and now it doesn't leak. Still runs the same Do you think it could be the variator? Should I get new rollers? Like I said if I put the scooter on a small hill and try to take off full throttle it won't move, but on flat ground it will do about 30 mph. My other scooter I have does every bit of 40 to 45mph and has more power on take off

I don't know what's wrong. It could be the weights are way too heavy. Like 9 gram or something. That would cause poor acceleration and no power on the low end. Do you own a scale? How's the compression? If you work the kick lever a few times with your hand does it fight you pretty good on the compression stroke or does it feel weak? Have you tried starting the engine with the belt cover off so you can look at the CVT in action? You can use some wire to temporarily hold the starter Bendix in place so it doesn't bind up when the engine starts and then once you have it running on the center stand you can rev the engine with the rear brake fully applied and look into the holes in the clutch to see if it's slipping. You can also remove the bendix completely and use a drill with a socket adapter to start the engine. (counter clockwise) on the variator side. You can remove the fan and spin the flywheel nut clockwise.

PLEASE!!! Before you do anything... Check this...
I had the exact same problem Engine started right up... When on the stand, I could rev it up and it sounded great. Tried to take it for a spin and it would barely move. I could actually hold the scooter with my feet on the ground.. Bought a new carb.. same thing. Installed a BBK.. same thing. Bought a new belt.. same thing.
Went through a bunch of parts just to find out the whole time it was the vacuum petcock. Somehow it had internally failed and was allowing gas to seep past it into the vacuum line going into the intake. Was causing it to be overly rich and was actually bogging bad.
Best thing I ever did was to replace that vacuum petcock with a manual one from Advance Auto parts and capped the intake vacuum port.

Thanks I'll check the vacuum petcock first tomorrow ,if that's not it I'll try starting the scooter up with the cover off. Now Fox your saying that with the scooter running and the rear break on that when I rev it up the clutch should not be able to rotate. Is that correct?
