Well I have absolutely located my stolen Vino and had dialogue with the theif via FB.He claims he found it by a dumpster, called the of and they gave him permission to keep it.I obviously didn't leave it by a dumpster but even so it had valid plates and a bin but who knows what some lazy assed cop said.it was a skeleton but so what.I don't believe cops have the right to give away another's motor vehicle. An old couch or tv maybe but a titled and licensed vehicle. He's 3 hrs away and says its mine.He had the testicles to send me a photo of himself and the scoot and gave me his exact address. At 1:30 am a nice officer came by took a copy of my conversation and title and bos with him.Told me the cop working the case had been transferred and he just didn't know.Worst case might be a civil suit.Evidence tech came at 330 and photographed my computer screen and docsAll and all I am not encouraged. The grinning Assad taking a selfie really steamed me.30 yrs ago I would have been entourage to Mo. heavily armed backed up by a couple fellow Rangers and a case of Bushmills and Guiness but those days are gone.Hard to shoot and hold onto the walker at the same time.Cop A said it may end up a civil matter but I call bs on that.A stolen 89 Escort is stolen vehicle across state line which means the Feds.Advise pleas been up all nite and more carpet to clean.AMS it's Downing Mo. thinking your perhaps further than me.Thanks for reading if you got this far.Frank

Glad you found it. I'm of no use on advice. Just think it's bull. You have a scooter reported stolen and a guy in possession of it via his admission and pics with an address. Why a civil suit? If they don't think they can get a conviction to improve their stats they just leave it to the owner to deal with? For me, I'd just want my scooter back and I wouldn't really care what they wanted to do with the person that had it. It's their job to do the police work, not ours. Good luck with the process.

Wow. All I can say is wow. I feel your pain I've had like 5 bikes stolen. One by a cop. I got arrested for trying to run him over with my car explained to the cops it was my bike my plate and I recognized the mp that was riding it. By the time they got to his house the bike was gone but charges were dropped because he wouldn't admit he was on the bike I was trying to run over. Another time I was picking up stuff at the shop on my way out of town. Saw my missing yz125 in the back of a pick up. The shop owner gave me the money he paid for parts held the guy while I destroyed the crooks truck and my bike. Then kept the parts and notified every shop in 300 miles that this guy was dealing in stolen bikes. I was headed home from the army and was already loaded nowhere to put the bike. Stealing that bike cost that moron about 6000 bucks in 1989

In Michigan a scooter gets a sticker a motorcycle gets a plate. The registration on the scooter shows the sticker number and the vin. On a bike it shows the tag # and vin. You run the vin#and on a motorcycle it comes up. Run vin#on a scooter that had a current sticker and registration and it comes up no record found. Run the sticker# and the vin will pop. Steal a scooter in mi scrape the sticker of and they can't find any records of the bike. Lawmakers suck

Wow.. I think if you have proof it is yours and the police do not want to do anything about it, I would start escalating it. I'd start at the police chief and work my way up to the Mayor, then if I had to, go to the Sheriff's dept or State Police. Maybe even contact the police where he resides..
When it was stolen, did you go to the police to report it missing?
I definitely would make them do their job!!!!

BS on that Dave but the same is true here. They have an independent towing service contracted by the city to pick up the vehicle and move it.But no mention from the police in Mo. down there everybodies got a pickup.I had a car stolen, cops found it on the streets, met me there and we drove it away. But I wan't this cocky jerk who stole my scoot to at least pay for my gas to go get it.Got a little leverage there, the two jurisdictions are trying to decide to prosocute. If he'll foot the bill i could be persuaded not to pursue him.BTW I have the plastics and they say he hotwired it with a paper clip so my ignitiom is intact and I have the key.
