As we all know these boxes coming out of China are not made for heavy duty use. I have seen many of them that had cracks on the bottom from normal everyday riding on bumpy roads. My solution to this is to make two plywood pieces and sandwich the bottom of the box between the two. This spreads the impacts over the entire surface area instead of on just the four small spots where the bolts are holding it to the rack. The outer piece is painted white in this case to protect it from water but black also works. I forgot to take a picture of it.
