Whenever I've seen them on ads, I just assumed that they were old Vespa scoots... How silly of me to realize that GENUINE Scooter Company is an American company, building scoots!! So cool. So, what's the consensus regarding Genuine, and the Stella model??

What I've been told is... Te older two stroke shifter models are good but have a possibility of transmission quality control issues. The four stroke auto models aren't worth messing with.
Saw a four stroke shifter model today. It was weird. Engine looked like the two stroke engine but it had a valve cover.

Think we have some confusion here.Stellas are sold by Genuine a Chicago I'll based firm. However I believe they are made in Taiwan. They have cvt's.The other pics are Italian based Vespas. Some have traditional transmissions.

My kinda topic
02-04, yes, later models have bearing issues, yet they are cheap if you love the messing around.
Electronic issues, so learn your circuits. Nice engines, 70mph no issue (did yesterday)
Upgrade suspension. Upgrade the seat. Upgrade the tires. Rest, have fun
Loads of character

The above pics are from that site

Stellas are sold by Genuine. They're Indian actually. Made by LML, sold as the LML Star elsewhere in the world. The other bikes in the Genuine lineup are Taiwanese.

I just noticed that they have the Stella 4-speed manual (150cc), and the Stella Auto (125cc engine)

So basically Genuine is more like a Distributor/Importer for those scoots... Does Genuine modifythem at all after getting them from the manus.?

I just know that they are a rebadged LML, not sure if anything is changed for the US market or for Genuine. I'm not sure if the Taiwanese built Genuine bikes, Buddy and such, are rebadged of another branding or not.

The older 2 strokes have a few desirable traits such that they're reed valved and they have front disk brake. All completely compatible with most Vespa P200 models. I'd love to find a cheap one just because of these two things!

The history goes something like this.Piaggio licensed LML to build Vespas in India as stated. Two guys from my old neighborhood in Chicago were running a scooter biz out of their garage catering to Vespas and Piagios. They formed Genuine importing the Indian Vespa and calling it the Stella a 4 speed 150cc two stroke. The Stella is now available as an automatic only. The rest of their line up is made by PGO in Taiwan.Bear in mind this has all taken place in the last ten years or so.The statement that they were an American company building scoots here is what led to my confusion remark. And Niz if you make trips home to the frozen tundra I'll keep my eye peeled for an early example in our price wheelhouse and let you know. There are dealers all around me.Problem is they are mostly "campus" scooters which are stored outside in our lovely winters and regularly kicked over by the football team and frat boys.
