Is there any way to check and see if the oil pump is working correctly? I'm pretty sure I burnt up my rings and don't wanna do it again.

If its a Minarelli engine, I think you can remove the drive gear on the pump and spin it with a drill. You just need to figure out the direction the pump needs to turn.

Run the drill in reverse.

Thanks spaz, I couldn't remember from when I swapped out the oil and replaced oil lines on my CL Keeway Flash 50 find. Added to my notes.

Add a little in the tank. Just in case.

Ummm since when does a 2T have an oil pump? spaz12 you told me 2T'get all there oil through the fuel mixture. I'm lost on that one. As for checking a 4T such as a 1P39QMB or GY6, the easiest way while in the scoot is to pull out the spark plug and take off the valve cover. Then crank it over with the E start and see if oil starts pumping out.

Auto mix 2T scooters (pretty much all of them from factory) have an oil pump that pumps 2T oil from the oil tank into either the carburetor or directly into the crankcase where it mixes with the fuel.

Most 2T's have an auto lube system (oil pump), which is what dracula has. Those of us who premix are the one's that have deleted the pumps for whatever reason, usually because at higher revolutions they are not sufficient or unreliable. If you mix it yourself then you know that you are getting oil. A few of the much older 2T's were premix from the factory.

Well thanks everyone, but I think I'm going to get rid of the oil pump and start premixing myself. I'm pretty sure That I burnt up my rings while trying to tune my 2t. Luckily I have another set. Hopefully they will be good since they are used.

Kymcos and I think all modern 2T's have an oil injection pump. stock mine ran from pump to carb and intake manifold right before the reeds. 2T cable splits one goes to carb one goes to pump so as you pull throttle it injects more oil as you release less. My throttle cable broke last month and I put a single one to carb in. I premix now at 40/1 but pump is still in and pumps idle speed oil mixture bout 100/1 constantly.

A lot of the Yamaha pumps are dependent on crank speed and do not have a cable. I know this to be true of the Zuma and Aerox motors. I think the Jogs might have a cable to the pump.

well ours work of a worm gear from crank but open and close with cable.....I think......but I also think the added speed and the added suction from intake manifold may pull more in at WOT would explain why I start getting hesitation and stumbling after a couple mins at WOT and when I pull plug its wet .

I seem to remember a video not sure if it's Brent's or not about the pressure differential between the airbox side and the engine side of a carb might actually be less at WOT than at about 3/4 open throttle (with a standard stock carb). would that affect the amount of oil getting to the fuel, as in if the vacuum is higher at 3/4 open then the oil coming from pump would be a higher flow than at WOT? or is it a combination of vacuum and rpm of the engine? I run a 40/1 premix but rarely run at WOT. it seems to perform better at 3/4 anyway. not sure if I have the terminology correct here so hope I am not using the wrong words to explain. and is 40/1 synthetic AMS Saber a good safe mix at all speeds? plug looks good but don't have a temp gauge. thanks. interesting thread.
