I'm gonna assume my scooter has the wrong kind of ignition in it because whoever put it in had to splice wires together because they didn't match up to the plug. Just thought I would put that info there for the question... Whenever I unplug my voltage rectifier my lights are at normal brightness and my idle seems right but if I plug it in the lights go dim and it brings my idle down a bit. I leave it plugged in because I don't want to fry anything. Is this because of the ignition maybe?

Also I was on a long ride this evening and I was at WOT for a good 6-7 maybe even 8 miles and when I came to a stop at the light my lights all went dim and scooter wanted to die. I had to give it throttle to keep it idling. After about 10-15 seconds it seemed to act normal again. Then after another 6 miles it did the same thing when I got to my friends house. Then after another 10-15 seconds it was normal again. What would cause this?

Not sure what the problem is but I know my light would be nice and bright when I first started up,the scoot. Then they would go dim. Then when I put on the rear brakes they would get bright again. So then I unhooked the safety brake switch and the lights would work great , but of coarse the brake light would stay on. So I bought another brake light safety switch and it started working great again for about two days . Then it started doing all the same things again , dim head light then no head light. So I finally used my multimeter and checked the power coming from the stater, not the power coming from the pickup or the power to the cdi box . Only the wires the two power wires going to the voltage regulator . I then discovered that one had power and the other wire didn't . So I installed a new stator and everything works great. No more problems. Don't know if that's your problem but I just thought this might help .

I hope I don't have to install a new stator lol. That's one of the few things I've never worked with on a scooter. I've heard they're a bitch to replace

Could be the wrong regulator. I tried to swap my 150 to an 8 pole from 6 pole stator recently and it did strange things with the wrong rectifier/regulator. I keep a few on hand, because half the time they are claimed to be for an application and don't work so you end up swapping in different ones till it does. One of the "joys" of Chinese scooters.
