i have a manual fuel valve and clear lines with a vacuum cap over the vacuum nipple on the carb. when i spray starter fluid into the air filter it will start up and run for a couple seconds then die. if it sits for a day or 2 it will start right up and then die after a couple seconds... it looks like there no gas moving through the lines from the shutoffvalve to the carb. i know for a fact gas is getting to the shutoff valve. i even put a vacuum petcock on there just for shits n giggles and gas still doesnt flow into the carb. im stumped by this. its a brand new carb also. it wouldnt start at all at first because the float needle was messed up so when i put the new carb on it then it fired right up and died a couple seconds later... its been doing this for about 2 weeks now. i had it running long enough to drive it up the street when i put the new carb on but now it just starts and dies..

Does fuel run out of hose connection a carburetor if not check like for restriction. If ok pull carb and pull apart check needle valve and see if it's out of seat or came off float.

I never thought to check the float because it was a new carb but I guess I need to pull it apart

Like I had said to another member, even the name brand carbs when bought new should be dissassambled, cleaned and inspected. That would g double for off name or China clone carbs.
Probably the float is stuck, or the needle valve is stuck in its journal due to muck or manufacturing defect.
Good luck and let us know what happens.

finally got it.... i never changed the piece that screws to the top of the carb that hold the throttle on... i just used the one from my old carb and it didnt fit correctly and was letting a little air in... pulled the throttle cable through and used the one that came with the new carb and she fired right up... a few adjustments later and it idles fine... bogs down at about 1/2 to full throttle which i think is due to the shitty open air filter someone put on there... gonna order a stock airbox for it
