Did my 2nd bbk install on a customers scooter today. That's exactly how long it took me from start to finish. From removing the valve cover replacing everything and putting everything back together... Time doesn't include tuning the cvt and the carb... That was a little longer lol

LOL! Brag brag brag. It would take me that long just to change the spark plug.

But, the million dollar question is...does it run? Ha ha. I could do one in about that same time but..well...you would not want me to because it would never run again.
All kidding aside, that is really fast. Do you file the ring gaps? I hear this talked about on the forums and yet, in a lot of BBK install videos they never mention it...just install the rings and go.
Nice job.

They aren't us. We have files and feelers and we aren't afraid to use 'em. Honestly, more often than not there is no need to file the rings based on any specs I've seen, but if you don't check you don't know.

In the old days, you had to gap each plug out of the box because they were usually way off. My Dad thought this might be because they make one plug and gap it for one application, but it can be used for many others by changing the gap. In the past 20 years, I always check my plugs prior to install and all of them have been to spec without any help. Always a good idea to check, because then you know. Thanks, Bill

On most name brand kits or at least the ones Iv used, the ring gaps were correct(I am one of them that check). I did once buy a cheapy china piston/rings set and had to file the ring gaps in to spec.

I did my 2nd BBK kit on my scooter without dropping the engine, saved a bunch of time.

That's good going. If I had to do a four stroke it would take me a week to work out what all the leftover pieces were for!

I did the one on my four poke in about that time.
Ran but was weak.
Then spent two more hours fishing the valve adjuster out of the bottom of the engine.

The kits I have bought had good ring gaps. I didn't need to file them at all. Like I said. That was just the install itself. I spent the better part of the day tunning the carb and cvt ... It runs like a champ

Ring ends meeting will really put the brakes on piston motion. Rings expand from heat due to power and friction.
