I have a peace sports renegade 49cc scooter. I just bought a new pd18j carb for it. I put the carb on and tried to start it. It won't start. I put old carb back on and it starts fine. So i put new carb back on and it still won't start. Does the new carb come pre adjusted or do i have to set it up? I know it getting gas, it just won't start. Any help is appreciated.

First make sure you are getting fuel to the bowl. I install a carb then suck on the vac line for the fuel petcock to allow the bowl to fill. If you have gas in the bowl and it still wont start I would suggest swapping out the jets from the old to the new carb. And no they do not come pre adjusted.

Is there gas in the new carb float bowl? Open the drain to check. If there is pilot jet maybe clogged. Try a shot of starting fluid. I wouldn't tell anyone I sucked a scooter hose.lol

You have to tune it.

it may take quite a bit of trying to get the bowl full enough. I have had to kick 20+ times before to get the engine to start after installing a carb before. like others have said, crank it over several times with the new carb installed, then crack open the bowl drain to see if there is any fuel in there.
the carb may not be setup at all, but it should at least try to start

On bikes with the petcock still I always remove vacuum line from intake manifold and apply vacuum with my mouth to open petcock and fill carb bowl. Screw all the kicking and attempted starts killing the battery. I also remove the petcock as soon as I plan on riding a bike daily. A fuel cut off switch for a mower works fantastic in this application.
