Why would someone use this setup? I find it confusing.

The red spring is for keeping lots of tension on the belt which helps to downshift on hills or maybe for decent low speeds as it also "fights" the belt going into higher gears too soon depending on what roller weights are used. The blue clutch springs are a bit tighter than stock so delay clutch engagement and let the engine spin up into higher RPM's where there may be a bit more power. All depends on how you want your CVT to act...

Iv ran the same spring setup. You don't rev to the moon on takeoffs with blue springs, and the red spring is good for getting the vario back down to a lower ratio at mid speeds and nice for hills.

For my bike and weight, red contra and yellow clutch springs are the biz.
