Yesterday as I was riding to my moms I was behind a car and we were literally right at the light when it turned yellow. Like he was right on the line where u would stop when the light turned. I assumed he was gonna go thru but he slammed on his brakes. I slammed on my brakes, squeezed my rear brakes as hard as I could and barely tapped my front brakes. Front tire locked up and it threw me sideways. I was doing about 37 according to my phone GPS app that I use that's mounted on my handlebars. I slammed down on my shoulder breaking my collarbone in 3 different places. Spent all day in the hospital. My scooter is totalled I think. I haven't had a chance to see it yet. I tell u what, this hurts bad. Road rash all down my right arms along with the broken collarbone... Ouch. Be careful out there people!

Owww! Best wishes for a speedy recovery. I've done the same thing many times, following a car and expecting to go through a yellow. I gotta try to stop that. A little bit of thought about missing a light vs ending up in the hospital makes waiting for the next green not seem so bad.

Oh, man.....this is a bummer.
I have a brother-in-law who broke himself nearly into pieces a few times in bike wrecks. And I remember one time when his collar bone stuck up like that. It looked painful and I think he confirmed that for me.
So rest up and heal. Sorry about your bike, too.

Yeah I can confirm this is phsycally the most painful thing I've ever been through. I'm a recovering addict. Been clean 4 years so I refuse any and all pain meds.. Just a little ibuorophen and rest will be OK for me. I'll be back scooting in about 3 or 4 weeks they say

I hope you get well quick.Racing for 50 yrs I. have broken both scapula and both scapula one three times.Bad news they never heal good as new.All have been from high sides.Too late now but if you wanna stop use your front brake.I never touch the bake brake unless I am leaned over. Contrary to common optinion a locked rear break will high side you.I know this sounds contradictory but when u grabbed the front brake it was too late, turned the front wheel, bingo hi side.Good for you staying away from the opiate painkillers. That could create a more painful long term problem.

Holy Crap! I hope you recover very soon with a minimal amount of pain. Good for you for toughing it out without pain meds. Maybe your postings here will stop another one of us from going down like that. Get well soon man.
