I bought a 150 cc carb but my mechanic say it won't work on my 50 cc Tao Tao 100ccbbk upgrade. Is this true? This is what it looks like: a67.tinypic.com/r0aydg.jpg

I literally can not believe you are still going to "mechanics".

It'll work. I don't know that it's necessary, but it can work.
This isn't the same mechanic that said you didn't need shrouds is it?

I guess I will be that guy and ask, What was wrong with your old carb?

A 24mm carb is overkill for a 83cc scoot. The 100cc kit is actually 83cc
It might work, but your bottom end will be soggy sluggish due to low intake velocity.
I have a 50mm BBK and a 20mm carb. It's about perfect. Gave up just a bit of take off but gained about 2 on top end.
Personally, I wouldn't use a 24mm carb for anything under 125cc unless you had a stroker crank, big valve head, exhaust and a lot of work.

52.4mm is the largest bore I know of. Who knows if the crank lasts more than a few rides, but Naraku makes those BBKs. With head, they cost about $300. At that point, you might as well spend the extra $100-200 on a stroker crank.
That said, given the "mechanic" first said you needed no shrouds, among other issues, then can't figure out how to fit a 24mm carb from a GY6 (not that difficult usually, even if pointless in many cases)... I don't think I'd be jumping into any major builds.
I don't know the person or the shop, but just based on all of the things I've read in your posts in the past months; I think your best upgrade would be searching for a reputable/competent mechanic. That alone may improve reliability and performance.

If you are going to run the scooter hard, stay with the 47mm BBK.
If you are not going to push the scooter past 35 - 37mph often, then a 50mm BBK is also fine IMO.
Depends on what you want from it.
But like the above post pointed out, it's all a waste of time and money if not done right.

Yea I bought the wrong one . However what is the highest bbk u can put on a 50cc taotao You know, I came across someone with a 52mm BBK, extensive headwork, cam, free flow exhaust....and 24mm carb. TBH...it ran really hard...so I may have to reassess and try one again.

Bigger isn't necessarily better, but then again some may argue that along side Sir-Mix-Alot.
