Like I mentioned in my introduction post, I have an 06 Twist N Go Venice with the 1E40QMB motor, and that it is my upcoming project scoot. I picked this up from CL with nothing more than a text description, $100 bucks in my pocket, and a 2 hour drive across the MN twin cities metro area in a gas guzzling truck. I did talk him down, how much might make you guys jealous, however after gas, food, and a whole afternoon spent picking it up, this is what i ended up with... I do have the side teardrop panels, but the clips on those are quite shredded and would be lucky to stay put even with a roll of duct tape. The front engine compartment panel is missing, the rear wrap around panel is only held on by a gascap and a latched shut seat. I should note that i merely set these panels in place for display purposes, most of the panel screw clips are missing, seat compartment bolts are gone, and i'm lucky the seat is "clean and latches" lol And the front fairing is... well... lets just say this is more of a picasso than an elegant scoot. Looking through the swiss plastic, we can see its redemption - although slim... Stator side view Carb The rusty jug A cruddy CVT cover with a patchjob kickstart plugging Ok so it isn't very elegant there either. At least it's a 1E40QMB... Oh, and it'll be quite easy to get the panels apart for access to the motor seeing as it's pretty much all busted off... But it has low miles! Who am I kidding, I paid $80 bucks for a pile. I have a lot of parts to get and a lot of wrenching will need to be done. At least my wife's Schwinn runs great for a 4poke =)

Just need a lil TLC It's a 2 stroke so you're well ahead of the game already.

I don't disagree, it is a definite TLC project, and the best part about a Minnesotan winter is the time we get to spend in a heated garage with beer and tools and plenty of "not chores" to do! I know it's a lot of work ahead of me, and i considered whether or not it was worth buying when i met with the seller, but i came home with it. There is potential, and like you said, it's a 2T =D

I picked up a venice pretty much like yours, all in pieces! It was quite the project but it came out rather well. A buddy of mine still has it. There is a thread somewhere around here about my efforts. Lol!
A word of warning. There are plenty of body parts out there that LOOK like they will fit, but they will not. You must have stuff from a Venice.

Thanks for the heads up, i am looking for body panels for it, and i know i'll be hunting for weeks/months to collect them. Hope they turn up. Any advice for finding some?

A member here hooked me up with some he had. I cant even remember who it was. It might be time for a naked Venice build? Dont knock it till you try it! LOL

Time to get a welder then. The frame without the seat and rear plastic is quite lacking, but you knew that already. For those who don't,

Well, i got my wifes bike tuned up and running well now that its the end of the season. Now its on to the planning phase of this project. I know i still have to rip into the engine to get an idea of what i'm working with, but the idea is to have a 47mm bbk setup and that i'd run premixed instead of using the oil reservoir. As for the body panels, i am considering a mock chop on the front fairing to make both sides even and keep the faux chrome front plate. I still have to play around with mounting the seat, but am considering eliminating the storage bucket and welding a tube frame up under the front of the seat to mount it solid.
I am totally open to ideas, forewarnings, and advice as i begin this phase.
When i do the tear down, what are all the major points i need measurements of? I know of the wrist pin diameter, but like head studs, spline count, cvt cover diameters, etc, what else...

Welp, i detached the motor from the frame today, discovered a whole bunch of fixes that need attention before it will run right. First, original owner discussed a "compression leak" that, i discovered, he tried to seal with a lot of black silicone caulking. Its ALL OVER THE CARB! He even had the idle circuit plugged up, the airbox and intake both deeply restricted, and its even on the reed valves... *major face palm* Second, the oil pump was busted hard and had a hole into the case, so its a case leak... Third, the exhaust was forced to fit (horribly i might add) where theres a wide open gap at the cylinder flange. Followed the pipe back, the mounting bracket where it hangs onto the right side crankcase half... one of the case tabs was busted, another hole perking into the case. Ok so maybe there was a rough collision or dump onto that side of the bike. And the fan/cooling shroud is completely missing.
So i now have a direction forward i'd like to go with this. Order lots of parts and trying to explain to my wife why we'll be $350 bucks poorer...
Oh, Brent. I was looking into that Phongeer exhaust you used on project 90, do you know what model it might be? Their website has 20some models with no descriptions what they are for or how they are tuned. Just curious

I got mine from VT Cycles in HI and it wasn't even listed on their site. I emailed them and told them I was looking for a Phongeer pipe.

Update, wife just unlocked our spending budget on this, so we're good to build - plus i've got a nice workspace all set up now to start the teardown. Just ordered a new right case half to replace the busted original - and a flywheel puller both from that one online scooter parts superstore. Updates to come...

Some of the Vespa crowd like to do "cutdown" scoots. They basically cut the extra width of the front fairing and floorboards to make the bike 'skinnier'. I'm not a huge fan of the look but could be an idea for the body panels you're working with...

I still would have to do a lot of gluing to get many of the broken panels back together, and most of the tabs are just missing. I've done a lot of looking around for complete, non running venice scoots for donor panels - and missed out on a $200 craigslist buy - but they are very very difficult to find. I think at this stage i'll go with a naked scoot, customize a floor/kick plate, and fab a means of mounting the seat.
I know i read that venice was particular with their panels, but if i found a full set of keeway venus or the like, i may just refab the tabs on the frame too lol

Quick question. I've been finding more stroker (44mm) cranks out in the wild blue internet, is there such a thing as a tall jug too? Or is it just a massive shim job? (Links if possible plus headaches doing your own stroker info too please)

(Links if possible plus headaches doing your own stroker info too please) 44mm stuff tends to be the high end parts... Malossi, Polini, etc... You don't want to build a stroker without a cylinder intended for one. It throws the port timings and clearances off. 45mm is what the cheaper stroker cranks usually are, which can go to 103cc with a 54mm jug. 49ccscoot.proboards.com/thread/10392/cutting-cases-accept-cranks-matchingYou can check out my T2 build thread and see quite a few different 90cc+ setups. 49ccscoot.proboards.com/thread/436/triton-2-t2-89-110cc
