Thoughts on using red high temp gasket sealer on the exhaust pipe? I crushed the copper ring and now I'm back firing.

In a pinch, some gaskets for small engine's(briggs n stratton, kohler, ect) will almost be an exact fit.

Do y'all prefer the ring or the gasket with the bolt holes in it? I would like to get the best gasket I can get so I dont have to keep replacing them. I had the ring on it and it seemed like it just melted

You need to clean all surface mounting areas of header to head thoroughly. If you use the property squish gasket you shouldn't need any fake gasket seal. BUT.... This is if your in a pinch, Copper RVT gasket sealer would be your best bet. BUT..... And again I use this term loosely, use lightly. More is not always better.

There is a local owned auto parts store with the B&S exhaust gaskets but they aren't open on the weekends. Its the only place in town that I've seen them sold at. It looks like it would fit the scoot. I went to Autozone and O'Reillys looking for that Mr.Gasket thing but nobody carried it. I put the red RTV gasket sealer around it just to use today and I'll pick up that B&S gasket tomorrow and she how that goes until I can get get something shipped in. I'll probably order a handful of these:

I like those metal faced gaskets. I buy mine from TVnACman.
Teflon is not a good exhaust gasket material. When Teflon is heated it releases PFOA gas which is more toxic than Phosgene gas.
