On the take off, is the clutch dumping to soon? Plug chop (if you can pull it off) and jet tuning kit has helped me out. That and the brents sweet carb tuning thread in the faq's.

I have saved a few batteries from the recycle pile by adding distilled water to each cell. Probably best to just replace the battery especially if this is your daily driver, but you could play with the dead battery and see of it'll take and hold a charge after refilling the cells... I agree it is always worth a try. If folks did this prior to the battery going bad it would last a lot longer. Most of the time, if the battery is showing signs of a bad cell or two, (By not holding a full charge, or failing the load test) it is too late but, as you said...why not try? Bill

I thought about that but it's the stock battery it seems to be sealed.

the clutch seems normal although it is stock and I have almost 5500 miles on the whole bike well all the stock pieces that are left at least which I could do a list of them because they're all parts/projects I plan on doing in the near future. I just want to tune it as I go considering its my daily driver I can't really have it in pieces very long.

No idea what size it is, but you can take a ruler, measuring tape or calipers to get your measurement.

The large but is a 38mm. AutoZone has that socket. You can use a large adjustable wrench. The socket was $10. If your talking about the small nut that allows you to remove the comlete clutch assembly of the the bike I can't remember for sure but it is a small normal size like 17 or 14.

Measure in mm. Take the measurement to Autozone or lowes. Get that size, one up and one down. 3 in all. Mine was one up. Take the other 2 back. Make sure to keep the ones your taking back clean with no tool marks.

Just buy a set of 3/8" sockets from a local store or order some online. Harbor Freight sells sets of sockets or wrenches real cheap and they are quite adequate for non-professional use. Avoid the XX# of tools type kits sets with a ratchet from HF or anyone. They are usually horrible quality. You will eventually need most of the sockets from the set and a set is MUCH cheaper than buying individual sockets from a parts store. Buying individual sockets is for replacing a missing socket from a set. On the other hand, some parts stores have loaner tools.

At times you can rescue a dead battery with a desulfator. Or with a high power charger that also has lower current settings. Pulse at high power for a set time then low power for a longer time, repeating on a schedule. This will save only a battery that's heavily crusted. It won't help a dead or shorted cell. I have personally discovered that NAPA sells reject trash batteries. At least my local store anyway. In the last fifteen months, I have been through two tractor batteries, a truck battery and two bike batteries all from Napa. I have checked the charging system in all three vehicles and all are on the average to slightly high side of healthy. Thankfully I only.had to pay for the first battery for each vehicle and shortly after that would ha e to drop the battery off at Napa over night while they tried to prove the battery is good. Every time they would give me. anew one the next morning. Sorry for the tangent. I I tended to just menuon the desulfator thing but the thought of Napa batteries just pissed me off.
