Yeah, I get belt run on the Bendix too... I just ride through it though. Haven't broken a belt yet, and Gates are the only ones I use. Seem to be tough.
I will be addressing gear issues soon. I had to park my scoot last night due to some strange clicks and pops coming out of my gearbox. With the center stand down and the wheel suspended, I give it a spin and every now and again I'll hear grinding, and sometimes the wheel will click and bounce back to spin the other direction. Almost like a flat spot on a bearing. New year's day will be my next time to put a wrench to it... Ugh.

Well I believe it's the brake pad spring, and not the gears. I rounded the wheel lug nut off trying to fix it, started a new thread on the subject...

I marked off the variator's pulley with a permanent ink pen to check the belt travel and also rebuilt my secondary slider as the oil seal kept slipping off on the pulley. I used a 1500k spring instead of the 1000k spring. I also had to use a new belt because it got torn up on the edges by the secondary slider from rubbing on the edge where the oil seal was supposed to be. I took it for a ride and got 53 mph top speed @ 9300 rpm's.
I checked the variator and all the ink got rubbed off (haven't checked front face yet).
I also expected to see a line on the belt from it hitting the bendix but to my great surprise It did not. I rode it again for about another 8 miles WOT to see if the belt hits the bendix and it didn't.
I'm still not getting the top speed I was hoping for, but if it resolved the issue with the belt hitting the bendix without decreasing the performance I was getting before the gear swap, then I guess I'm happy.....for now anyways. I'm still going to keep observing the top speed for the next few hundred miles and see what happens as it does seem to be climbing a little bit with more wear.

Glad to hear it's running good! I stopped in the local scooter store today asking about the gears getting pressed on, and his response: "I've never been asked that before. Most people just ride the scooters, they aren't doing what you're doing. You might wanna try a machine shop." I asked to have the new gear pressed on... Looks like I'll just do it myself, like everything else on the scoot.
I'm hitting 52mph without the gears, I'm so excited to see what will happen when I finally get them installed.
Happy tuning!

I'll see what they have to say. I just gotta order those gears first. Luckily I have a spare gearbox so I'm not stuck without the scoot while I find a place to do the press.

Cool. I would double check to make sure the counter shaft on your other gear box is the same size. I have another gear box too and found that they were different so had to order one.

I've already swapped the gears haha. 52t stock and I don't remember the other one, but the new bigger gear is 51t so it helped top end a bit, that's why I want the 49t. I wanna hit 60mph so bad haha

Some auto repair shops have hydraulic presses. Machine shops should have one. Call around and find out. Many people with a home shop will have a hydraulic press from Harbor Freight or Northern Tool. I made my own press years ago when I had more time than money. A press is a handy tool to have in the shop.

I'm a driveway mechanic haha! Would the oven and dry ice method work? That's my plan. If I can use a gear puller to remove the gear, then put the shaft in dry ice and the new gear in the oven and they should mate up pretty well. I hope. I've been the only mechanic on this scoot, and I kinda wanna keep it that way.
