Just picked up this tomos nitro scoot. I found that it has a DC cdi box. I never had a scoot with DC wiring. I know it needs a new cdi. Does anyone know what is a good one to buy? Thats cheap or are they all basically the same like the ac kind sold on eBay?

My assumption is they are as generic as the ac units, this is what I assume, as I don't have as much experience with dc style.
This I do know, have hooked up both an AC and DC cdi on the same scoot (not at same time). Just made the minor wiring change to accommodate the required ac or dc to power the cdi, both worked as expected.
The scoot had an original AC cdi so the ac to power the cdi was already there, connecting the DC cdi simply required providing 12v to the dc box.
As yours has a DC unit by default then changing to an AC unit would also require a stator that provides the ac to the ac cdi
My .02¢

Just make sure you get a DC CDI. I don't have one so I've never looked at them.

Mine has a DC CDI, I just got a generic black one from Amazon for $8. Works great.

Thanks, just ordered one. Hope that it's the only problem I have with it.

You ALWAYS need spares! if the first one works get a second one for a spare, make sure it works when you get it. John
