Here it is.

I just place the order about five minutes ago.
The brand, or manufacturer, is Ice Bear. I've assumed we're still talking gy6 componentry here. If I'm wrong I could regret this. But I'll take my chances.
What this means is that my wife and I will each have two scoots. One reason is that now we can rotate scoots between maintenance/repair and everyday use. But there's a little more to it than that.
I've been watching niz flip scoots (watching his threads anyway) for about a year now and thinking that it sure looks like a lot of fun. I could do that. The only trouble is that there is simply no scooter market around here. We do see an occasional scooter in the fairly near neighborhood. But we don't see them sticking around. We don't know anybody who owns one. I looked on craigslist and ebay the other night for used scoots. There was really nothing within 150 miles.
I'd really like to have a scooter community around us. Telling people, "It's great" doesn't seem to motivate them to go out and buy one. So I'm going to tell people, 'bring your wife over and we'll do a bit of riding and get a burger'. There are plenty of couples at work who we could invite plus there's a number of couples in the neighborhood who we're on friendly terms with. Let these people actually ride a scooter a time or two on a nice evening and I'll bet a certain number of them will start thinking that they want one for themselves.
And then I'll give them my pitch. I'll stress the fact that their budgets will be more fat if they allow their car to just rest when the weather permits. I'll tell them just what a Chinese scoot is and is not. And I'll tell them what a good PDI will do for them.
I've already done one PDI on a recent Taotao and I got some photo documentation. I'll do the same with this Ice Bear. That'll establish some cred. I'll tell them that I'm willing to be their scooter mechanic.
When they say that maybe they will get one of those, I'll point to the one they were just riding and say "I'll sell you that one". The price will depend on how many miles I've put on it. But I'll bet there's some room for profit there.
If they turn it down because they don't really want to spend a grand on the spur of the moment, then I'll just see to it that they take more rides with us. Sooner or later I'll pry that wallet out of some of those cheapskates.
And I'll see to it that my rates for repair and maintenance are a good deal less than the Honda dealer.
I won't even hope to make a killing, or even a living, at it. I'll merely hope to get some more scoots running around this neighborhood.
