Hey everyone! I'm a new owner of a used TaoTao VIP Future Champion. Picked it up last month for $175 in running condition. I've already done a few things to it including new tires, magnetic drain plugs, oil change, iridium spark plug, etc.
I ordered a lock kit from amazon because the glove box and seat locks for mine were missing. Problem is, I have NO idea how to install it nor do I know which lock should go where!! Any help?
Secondly I had the CVT cover off while I was doing some work and I wanted to make sure the new spark plug was working so I hit the ignition and the starter kicked in and then flew out of the CVT!! I didn't realize the cover held it in place. Nothing cracked or broke and I have to take the variator off to put new rollers in but I should be able to just pop it back in right?
Lastly the scooter had no horn. Switch works fine but can someone show a pic of their horn so I can verify the wire colors? I've already purchased a replacement horn.
I think that's about all for now. I love my little scooter but I also wanna make it run better too!! Thanks so much!

Welcome aboard.
We might not be very far apart. At least I live in Cardinals territory. About halfway between Chicago and St Louis.
Plus I just bought my wife the very same model scooter that you have. But I can't answer any of your questions. I don't know the bike that well yet.
But people will come along with better answers than mine.

Ah, I'm down in OKC but I grew up in Missouri.
Just a picture of the glove box lock (from the inside) and the horn would be helpful. Thanks!

Each lock has a different arm on it. I haven't worked on a VIP to tell you which is which, but I would think a couple of quick test fits should make it apparent. Just look closely at what they have to interact with and how well each would work for that.
The starter bendix should fit in without any pressing etc... There are usually bushings on each side, so if it feels exceedingly loose you may want to make sure those aren't missing.

Thanks 90GTVert. BTW, your vids have been very helpful so far. I plan to do your pickup mod this week!! The issue isn't which one to use in which location - I just have no idea how the circled things in this picture all fit together to hold the lock in place!!

Scooter disease has no cure... Thanks! I'm quickly finding that out - I think I've spent as much on tools and parts as I have on the scoot itself. But when I took it out for that first ride it was all worth it! My wife won't let me have a motorcycle and we just found out I need a motorcycle endorsement in this state to ride my scooter so maybe this is a step in the right direction. At the very least I can putt around the neighborhood and take this thing camping as well.

Card
Those blue things fit into the slots on the barrel of the lock on the inside of the application. It stays tight cuz of spring tension.
Good luck
