As a diabetic it is all over for me if I crash bad or get hit. Even full protective pads, head to toe, wouldn't do any good. Sometimes I just wonder why I ride a scoot at all. Interesting, the above post was posted while I was typing the first of this post. I don't have a wife or any family that cares about me but maybe I should sell my trike too, -after I fix the CVT. Diabetic also here. I've toned things down a lot lately. Sold my motorcycles. (I've ridden since my early 20's). But I just can't give the two wheeled thing up entiely. I love my 49cc tao tao and love to ride it through the park nearby, that feeds my addiction adequately or so it seems. I still get to work on them and ride them but no more road trips or high speeds for me. Yes I wear a helmet.

Slow is good enough for me but I still need power for those hills. I use that Honda Civic muffler because I don't want to disturb the peace in the park, plus the noise bothers me. Diabetes is a PITA.

Against doctors orders, I got on her and took her for a few blocks, foolish yes, on the other hand it answered a question, and I haven't used my cane all day since.

Peas, I don't think you told us what the wife thinks about you scootin again. "<embarrassing terms of endearment deleted> and you do not have to sell the scooters, it was an accident, which by definition are not planned:) The injuries you have were a fluke, not everyone has the same experience with this type of injury...it could have happened falling on the the stairs, or falling in the t-rex costume. Just wait until spring from now on:)"

If its between T-Rex and scooting that will be a hard choice.

Drains out, staples out, now he's concerned about a blood clot so I have an ultrasound scheduled Tuesday just to clear that, but everything looks good, I'm cleared to do everything but ride, and we're in a blizzard warning at midnight...

It sounds you're on the mend in more ways than one.
I've had a few periods of "never riding again" since the 1970s, I always get back on, eventually.
I always ride with protection. I live near the border with Connecticut. I see folks riding on big bikes with no helmet or jacket and there I am riding a little scooter with a helmet and armored jacket. (CT has no helmet law, MA does.)
