So I'm at work, looking at buying a new auto enricher for my 150cc 24mm carb. Scooterpartsexpress.com states the auto enrichers are the same size on both 150 and 50 carbs. I have a spare 50cc carb at home with what I presume to be a working auto enricher but when I put the two up next to each other the 150 looks to be slightly bigger. Not in diameter, but in length (the needle base itself looks a millimeter taller than the 50, but the needles look identical). So, does anyone have experience with swapping these two?
I got my scooter running amazing yesterday with a stock CDI so I attempted to put my auto enricher back on. Ran like poop. So I removed it and blocked off the passages and it ran super smooth. This morning it was so hard to start, I've been contemplating making a slip on choke for my air filter. Plastic bag with a small hole in it to slip over the filter to start it, then pull it off when it's running.
...Or just put a working auto enricher back on. Thoughts?

I would figure that Scooterpartsexpress.com would know what they are talking about. They sell lots of parts. The enricher adds extra fuel until the electric power heater inside warms it up and shuts off the extra fuel. Use the enricher, -or work around it. There are 'choke' conversion kits available that manually operate the needle valve. There are lots of threads on the enricher circuit here. For cold starts I just twist my Vito power jet valve. www.vitosperformance.com/atv_parts/product.php?productid=440&cat=362&page=1

There are manuel,pull/push, choke cables available. But in my opinion, put a auto enricher back on, also watch the videos on testing them.

I completely understand how the enrichers work. The problem I was having was loss of power and random idling. So I ripped it off and blocked the ports, now it's just a struggle to start in the morning. It runs PERFECT now, once it's warmed up. The enricher that was on the carb had a sticky needle. It stuck BAD when I was removing it. My 50cc carb has a good (I presume) enricher so I may try to install that back on; but with the temps rising in Florida I may just continue my adventure the way it is. Thanks for the insight, folks.

If you can cover the air box inlet with your hand you can choke it like that. That gets it too start for me.

I have a pod filter on a 90 degree bend inlet to fit it nice and snug under the seat bucket. I have tried to slip a paper cup over the filter until it starts (sometimes works) or putting a plastic bag over it with a small hole in the bag until it starts. I've been too lazy to try the other enricher I have... the weather is warming up and it's starting easier every day.
