I tried to ream out a main jet a little. Now when I hit the gas it just bogs down and will hardly run. It will still idle fine though. Is it normal that it would do this with too large of a main. I mean it is bad, will not go at all! Good thing I have a selection of mains coming.

Depends. If you left the bore rough it can actually slow down the flow. On the other hand, if you reamed it too large the post above applies.
I've never had any luck trying to resize jets. Some do...I'm to clumsy. The kit you have coming will resolve your issues.
Good luck and ride to live another day.

Is this on a 139qmb? If only the jet size changed then it's rich on fuel and you need to compensate be removing the air restrictions in the air box. If that doesn't work then it's possible the jet was reamed open too far. It's an easy fix but you're gonna have to buy a set of jets. If you leave it stock buy jets in the 75-80 range, if you leave the air box restrictions out try 95-100 range of jets. That's what I gathered from watching 90's project tao tao videos.

I've heard people have had good luck reaming using welding tip cleaners. I've screwed up 2 jets with drills and decided to invest in jets.

If you want to experiment with drilling your own custom jet sizes use a drill press. Most of the time a hand held drill will drill a slightly triangular hole in metal and a drill press will give you a round hole. I can't explain why that is, it just is.

The reason it idles fine is the pilot jet is still the same. The pilot jet works at idle and the main jet works at 1/3 to full throttle.

While you are waiting for your new jets you can solider up the one you reamed to large, then drill it to the stock size, they say eventually the solider will wash out from the flow of the gasoline but I've never had that happen. Ive done this a few times with out a issue.

The soft solder will wear faster than brass from microscopic abrasive particles in the fuel. All jets wear with time. The edge profile of the hole is critical, that is one reason drilling jets does not always work out well. An assortment of jets to try is the best option. I have also installed one of these which helps with seasonal variations too: www.vitosperformance.com/atv_parts/product.php?productid=440&cat=362&page=1

Wows this is an old post! Yes all I needed was a new jet. I had them next day and after about 20 minutes I was riding in style again. Don't think I will mess with altering jets again. I should have known better but curiosity got the best of me.
I run triple weber sidedrafts on one of my Z's. Those have 5 jets for each barrel for a grand total of 30 jets! I can tune those carbs to perfection but I would never try to alter any of the jets!
Thanks for your help guys!

Follow the installation instructions that come with the jet. The description has some info. The jet body has 1/4-28 threads. I drilled and tapped a hole in my carb air horn.
