yeah i'm actually very surprised it runs as good as it does with the choke hole wide open like that. i can hit about 45-50mph on the speedometer. currently i have the mix screw 2 1/3 turns out, and the idle screw 1 3/4 turns out. and it seems to be running okay. only thing is, is that if i give it 1/4 - half throttle it gives no power to the wheel and will bog down and die once i let off. i added a washer to the throttle like Florida suggested which made it a little better but there is always that zone where if i throttle there to long it will die after i let off, any suggestions? im very peranoid of destroying my engine with this wonky carb setup that i have, but i dont want to spend the 80 bucks the vm22's cost. ahhg anyone know of any cheaper vm22's that will work? seems like there are bystarters/chokes available for this bike on ebay pretty cheap. you could also just block off the choke hole, restrict the air filter housing with your hand when starting and let the bike warm with your hand slightly over the intake hole on the air filter. Tune the carb for when the engine is warmed up. What does the manual say for the screw settings? Letting it run lean is not good imo. The carb should run on the factory settings or something pretty close. If it doesn't then you probably have other air leaks. But the choke hole open is not good.

I successfully found and replaced the stock carb with an after market ( was only $16 ) here is the link. www.ebay.com/itm/172023372970?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AITbolted right up, fit perfect. even came with the throttle slide and pin ( had no idea they came with carbs ) took a lot of looking and measuring to find one that would fit. it wasn't idling so i put in the jets from the stock carb, into the aftermaket 16 dollar one. It did take a bit to get it to even idle. but after a little bit i got it, idling and running great. Im suprised everything went as smooth as it did, from all the threads ive read There is no aftermarket carb that will fit and bolt right on, all the vm22's and vm20's were way to big for the bike. heres some pics of it, and the Keihin Carb Carb # 00ACKB Smaller jet = 95 bigger jet = 105 i believe (not 100% sure, will have to look) had my girl friend film a short video to, so you guys can hear how it sounds.

Great inexpensive fix. She's pretty quick off the line. Make her live - do plug reads. Happy scooting.

Made a hand choke attachment so i can put the side panel back on for good. Used a plastic hanger, and some of these beebee's that turn into mold-able plastic once put in boiling water, and becomes 100% solid when put into cold water. got it all setup, works great. Choke opened up all the way. and then closed all the way
