So I just tried leaving for work, started the scoot and it died instantly. Too cold, it seemed. Started right back up, gave it some throttle and let it idle for about 10 seconds and it stalled. Wouldn't start back up. Pulled the plug and found no spark. Changed coil, CDI and plug with still no spark.
I'm stumped. Could this be a stator issue? The bike cranks over just fine. Fuel line is full, the carb is getting fuel. Compression is good. Just no spark.

Update:
Tried using a pulley puller and it spread open the shaft that the flywheel is on, and now the but doesn't fit. On my way to the scrap yard for a motor...

Awe man! Well, good luck finding a motor. What kinda scrap yard you got out there? We don't have any scooter or motorcycle yards here

Other possibilities would be the stator and the kill circuit. If there's a ground on the kill wire, it won't spark. Easiest way is to check for ground there when all switches are set to run. If there's a ground, then figure out why. If not, the kill circuit shouldn't be the issue. It's the black/white wire on the CDI in most cases. Here are stator checks : www.youtube.com/watch?v=q9-mr7BXIhoMay be able to run a die or thread chaser over the threads of the crank. If it's just ballooned out at the end from pressure, maybe file at a 45 degree angle on the tip of the crank till a nut or die/thread chaser fits.

One was the police lot (I saw motorcycles that people died on) and the other was a scooter a d motorcycle specific lot. I found a long case motor with a good wheel, $40 if I remove it. I forgot my tools! A beer for lunch then I'm on my way back to pull the motor.

seems we may having the same problems. mine did that and the staor is the issue. ive been through two now. the one i put on today craped itself immediately. they have grooves/gashes in the coils. i hope the many bbk builds havnt taken a toll on the bearings on that side and are letting the flywheel make contact. dont seem possible tho. i did find a nasty mess of najed wire in the factory harness where the ingnition coil wires go into the flex loom. seems all the ground wires literally tied together there and some wires off the stator too. mite wanna check your harness there
