Jetting is a bit of trial and error...but if you want to run an unrestricted airfilter and a bigger carb...on a otherwise stock bike...I would Start somewhere around 86-90 and watch your spark plug.
Take a look at your plug now...my guess is the insulator is snow white.

It should be marked, but not always. As for what jet to look for, it depends on your particular motor as no 2 are created equal. But for a ballpark estimate I will say that I have a 49.6cc taotao VIP with a pd19j (19mm) with an open air filter and I run an 88 main jet in the winter and a 90 in the summer.

I opened up the new carb. Both jets were clean and looked normal. The main jet is an 85. Im going to get a set of jets and see what works best. Should I also upset the pilot jet?

Should I also upset the pilot jet? What did the pilot jet ever do to you? Please don't upset it. lol Sorry, I couldn't resist. If you can get the idle mixture dialed in, then you don't need to change the pilot jet. Usually the pilot would only need to be swapped with free-flowing filters. I don't know that you ever had overheating. I'd still check valve clearance to be sure that's right. It's something that needs to be done periodically anyway. 49ccscoot.proboards.com/thread/647/start-troubleshooting?page=1If WOT works, but it dies anywhere else, you may need to look into other areas of the carb. Give the whole thing a thorough cleaning and make sure the diaphragm is seated properly under the cap so the little tab aligns with the space for it in the carb body. Try warming the scooter up for just a few minutes and then setting the idle mixture to see if that gets you anywhere. 49ccscoot.proboards.com/thread/363/carburetor-cleaningwww.49ccscoot.com/faq/carbtune.htmlOh no. Have you been buying parts from Jeremy Vinup? This is just my opinion, but that dude is like the Home Shopping Network of the scooter world. It seems to me that he gives cheap parts fancy names and marks them up and then says whatever he thinks will sell them.
