Hi All,
My scooter wasn't starting, elec. or kick start. No electrics were working - so I assumed the battery.
I changed the battery, and it was the same (and subsequently shorted something but that's another story).
So, before I buy a new CDI, is there any check I can do to know if that may be the fault / or some other quick checks?
I'm an amateur here.
many thanks for any help you can provide, Neil

You can't really check a CDI without some special equipment that's much more expensive than a new CDI or another scooter to try the CDI on that is running. If no electrical bits work, then it's not the CDI or at least not just the CDI. The CDI and other ignition components don't need a working charging system unless it's a DC CDI (which is not as common as the AC ignitions). First check would be the fuse. There should be one somewhere near the battery. Some electrical help here : www.49ccscoot.com/faq/faq.htmlNo-start help here : 49ccscoot.proboards.com/thread/647/start-troubleshooting?page=1
