Removed the flywheel yesterday and I was very surprised that it just came off with my bare hands after removing the nut. I thought I would have to use a puller for the removal.
Is it time for a new woodruff key if it is like this?

no, if the key isn't sheered and the keyway isn't buggered up I would just call it good luck. its the taper that makes it hard to pull no the key. when you reinstall it check to make sure there isn't any play. if there is its most likely the flywheel itself that is out of spec or possibly your crankshaft. my guess is all is good.

That taper has to be absolutely clean on both the crank and flywheel when it goes together. Otherwise the taper will not hold like it is supposed to. Even a single tiny fiber from a paper towel or a hair can foul up that joint.
