Got everything hooked up with the new harness. Went to crank it. It cranked then some of the wires started smoking and melted. Never had anything like this happen. Anyone got any ideas?

Something is shorting or wired incorrectly. Gonna be tough to tell ATM since there are prob lots of shorts from melted wires. Is there a fuse in the new harness (usually ~10A)? Since it never would spark with the 2T, there may be something wrong with parts not swapped that have been fiddled with.

I just ordered an entire harness set on eBay. I really want to ride this thing lol. I have the wheel and everything else ready to go. Just need it to start. Do you know if the 49cc taotao harness would work ?

You have to match up wiring functions with a schematic you want to use. You can't just plug in connectors or match colors and expect anything but smoke.

49cc and 150cc connections should be pretty much the same, as long as the 150 doesn't use the big 12 pole stator. Could still vary, since even 49cc harnesses can have different connections. Like Franken said, you should go over the harness and try to see what's connecting where before plugging things in. This kind of stuff is never fun. It takes time, but there's not much of a way around it if you don't enjoy flaming or unoperational scooters.

That is nice -Buddy. You still have to check. And you still have to avoid damaging the wires. It is all on you. We can't do it for you.

Well get to it then. Don't trust Chinese instructions. BTW, I was looking over a house electrical panel an 'expert professional electrician' had installed and wired a few days ago. It was made to look 'pretty' with right angle bends on all the wires and wires tucked back into place nice and neat. It seems to be all the rage for professional house wiring installers nowadays. It was a disaster waiting to happen. If I was the inspector I would not pass it at all.** It is no wonder that several of the circuit breakers trip on that panel. Unfortunately since it was wired by a 'qualified professional' it won't be inspected. So sad.... **Note- I have designed and inspected hundreds of machine control centers and motor control centers to US, Canadian, and European standards, as well as aerospace applications. So I know what it takes for controls and wiring to be safe, effective, and survive.

How did you do that and can they fix it? Crap, we might as well face the fact it will never be like 'new' but OUCH! I have seen my bones through lacerations but never from a break like that. Let us know how you get along. I guess since you drove yourself you didn't call 911...

Others have posted really gross pics of their injuries. It serves to remind us that we are NOT invulnerable and the consequences. A kind of reality check...
But, if you were wearing ballet slippers or something it might be TMI. -LOL
