Hi,
My 49cc Peace Sport has been sitting in a garage for a long time from a previous owner, so I decided it was time to start it back up. I got a new battery, changed the oil, cleaned the carburetor and fuel system, checked the spark plug, didn't check compression because I bet it was probably fine.
The problem that I'm having now is that it is difficult to start, just barely possible. I haven't taken it off the center stand because when it does start it just keeps spewing out white smoke from the breather tube that doesn't connect to anything else (is it supposed to connect to anything?). The air box is cracked a good amount right before the tube leaves to connect to the carb so there definitely is an air leak there, don't know how important that is to fix/related to the white smoke and hard starting problem.
Any help figuring this out would be appreciated. Thank you

I think the one check that you mentioned neglecting, the compression check, would have been a useful one. White smoke is usually oil. You may have an issue with the piston rings. Somethings not right for it to be spouting out white smoke. The crankcase breather hose usually connects to the airbox. It still shouldn't be smoking though.
You'll want to get the airbox fixed (or just replace it for $15-20). Otherwise it may run lean.
