ok I'm kinda frustrated, I have 4 gram rollers in the variator, at 40to 41 mph I'm running around 8200 rpm. But I checked to see if the the belt was riding on the very top of the variator, it wasn't so I put 8 gram rollers in and the belt rides all the way to the top but I can't even get over 6500 rpm. So I put 4.5 gram rollers in and the belt doesn't ride to the top ether but does ride a little further than the 4 gram. But with the 4.5 gram I'm only hitting 7400 to 7500 rpm . That's a big drop which affects top end speed . I need the belt to ride at the top of variator and rpm to be around 7900 to 8000. Any suggestions, no I haven't used lighter sliders yet ,would that make a difference?

You could try a shorter drive boss, but it will effect your launches.

there are a lot of different weights between 4.5 and 8. also try experimenting with a stiffer contra spring.
something like 5.5 gram rollers or sliders with a 1000, 1500, or 2000rpm contra. it really is trial and error. if you don't want to spend a lot on several different weights, they make tuning kits that come with several different weights all in one package. they are poor quality and wont last long, but they are not intended to be used for a long time, just a cheap way to figure out which weight works best, then you buy a good set of that weight to use on a more permanent basis.
you will get good at pulling the cvt apart real quick. plan on doing it several times over the course of a day to get everything dialed in.
