I just got a new Hoca variator and after I put it on I torqued it to 30ft-lbs with a good torque wrench and it has come loose twice. I used the old nut is that the problem I never had that problem with the cheap DLH variators I've used in the past. I just decided instead of replacing variators to get a good quality one but didn't get a new nut for it. thanks Farmer54

I would try to use a impact wrench, if not, get it tighter.

Would Loctite thread tight help?

I will try Loctite but I've never had any problem with just torquing it down to 30-30 ft-lbs. Also I've read about enough people that use an impact to put them on with and strip or break then end of the crank off. thanks I guess Loctite it will be. frank

Not sure if you 4 pokers are same build as a 2T but isn't there a slight bend washer just under that nut that acts as spring washer to prevent the nut from coming loose?

Did you inspect the threads in the nut and on the crank?
A common problem is tightening against the belt. I know you've done variators before, but maybe it wasn't an issue with the other. Always squeeze the rear pulley and get the belt down in there a little before tightening the variator nut so the belt doesn't prevent tightening it properly by pushing against the fixed half of the front pulley.

Always use a torque wrench, or a torque stick with an impact, with a clean nut and shaft, with blue Loctite. Don't use the variator nut to spin start the engine or you will have to remove the nut and re-torque etc.
