I just picked up a 2016 tao tao thunder 50 with intentions on making it my daily driver.its completely stock and in great shape ridden very little the tires and everything are brand new like off the showroom. Its been in a garage for 6months. The guy claimed it ran good just needed a starter, but I discovered it wasnt the starter it was the variator gear that the starter turns all the teeth were grinded off .. I replaced it now it cranks up idles fine for about 30 seconds until it warms up then suddenly it starts idling low and stumbling/skipping. as you rev it up it clears out some runs decent if you coax it gently to wide open throttle on the stand . but when trying to drive it just stumbles and wont get over half throttle then dies . I have no idea what to do! -no bare wires anywhere everything looks new -new spark plug no change what so ever.
-no vaccume leaks that i can see anyway hell its pretty much a new bike! I have plenty of gas coming to the carb Could this be electrical? Carb ? I cant get the carb apart it doesnt have screws in it like most carbs so how do i rejet it, clean it or anything it looks to be sealed preeminenly from the factory ive never seen one like this(input on this would be appreciated also) . Please someone help me this is suppose to be my daily driver i need to get it going asap

Your best option is to go through the troubleshooting charts included with service manuals in the tech section. Do not ASSUME anything. Follow the steps in order and completely.
Check the air filter and check to see if the previous owner tried to modify the stock airbox by 'opening it up'. Too much air or fuel will cause the symptoms you describe.
There are a lot of places for vacuum leaks etc that can't be seen by eye.
Sealed carbs are common now due to EPA regs. The screws and covers can be removed with some work. Search for threads on sealed carbs and check out the tech section.
You can also buy a stock replacement type carb that will work with a stock airbox fairly cheap from one of the vendors that advertise here. They sell good parts and are trustworthy. You will still have to check the tune on the new carb.

if it's a carb problem on those sealed no name carbs, it's better to get a quality name brand one, and not even fool with them, this is where i picked up my Keihin, it appears to be a legitimate one, after looking over it carefully, mine still isn't running right, but I'm working on it. One thing I just discovered is it was set really really lean on the needle, I just dropped it 4 spots and now I can fully open my throttle, if you are running gas with ethanol, check the top diaphragm and see if it hasn't eaten a hole in it already. The cheap carb diaphragms appear to be made of rice paper and hope www.ebay.com/itm/Keihin-49cc-50cc-SCOOTER-CARB-CARBURETOR-Chinese-GY6-139QMB/271985511509?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

If old gas hasn't killed the carb from lack of use try looking to see if its getting too much air for stock carburetor. I just fixed one yesterday where the air nozzle at the begining of the air box system ,fell out causing the exact problem you have. The restrictor nozzle with the 4 ten mm holes works well for stock. Here is a picture with air nozzle fallen out

Here is a picture with air nozzle fallen out on mine that restriction caused a rich condition, you could smell raw fuel when it was in place, once I got rid of it it cleared up that condition, bike wasn't getting enough air, that piece with the holes is probably an aftermarket speed restriction, there is often another factory restriction inside the box behind the air inlet nozzle, get a decent unsealed carb, and you can change the jets and open up the airbox a little, once I get my new carb dialed in and working, thats what I plan to do

I put thatback on and it seems to do better but it still has trouble idling it cuts off if you dont rev it every other second. It least you can drive it now it wouldnt even go out of the drive way before
