My wife's scooter has developed a starting problem. I cleaned the carb and with the air box off it starts fine. Otherwise it doesn't want to catch. Any ideas what it could be?

If it starts with the air box off either your filter or air box are clogged or your carb is way to rich. How does it run once it starts without the air box?

I removed and cleaned the airbox and filter. I didn't run it much without it, but it idled poorly. I will check the a/f mixture and report back.

It's a two stroke. Yes the mix was on the rich side. Seems better now. Amazing how touchy these carbs are. I'm pretty sure that it was flooding.
